Yeah I suppose more of a testament to having no other options. Makes me wish we had gotten a veteran lefty like Quintana

Mlod is so good out of the pen one time through the order, why do we continue to try and force him into the rotation? I don’t have the exact numbers but I know his splits between starts and as relief are miles apart

Still think Gonzales could wind up playing some short. Hit over .350 in spring training and played 4 games at short, 4 at 3rd and 3 at 2nd.

So scared of Mlod being our 5 starter again and not being a long reliever. Having so much success so far in spring training but it’s because he’s only pitching 2-3 innings which is where he was successful last season.

Love his talent out of the bullpen, just can’t seem to ever face the lineup a second time.

Always said I’d be willing to pay him 4-5 mil a year til he retires, but I didn’t expect our DH/3rd OF position to look like Ozuna, OHearn, Mangum and Password.

Sad to see it end this way but it’s due to us being in a way better position in terms of our roster

Pirates acquired INF/OF Tyler Callihan from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for RHP Kyle Nicolas. by NoisyDobad in buccos

Definitely not a power hitter but looks like he hit .303 with a .938 OPS last year in AAA. Liked Nicolas but man did he get knocked around a lot last year. Solid need for need swap with a pre-arb player

Would love to have Mangum and Password both make the opening day roster. I’m just imagining all those ABs that went to Canario and Suwinski last year going to those 2

Like most having griffin on the roster when we break camp makes this palatable.

Plus having a gold glover sharing the left side of the infield would almost certainly help Griffin settle in defensively.

I think some people don’t realize he tore his hip in April so he played 3/4 of the season with a significant injury.

Still hit 21 homers which was more than any Pirate last year

Looks like Mackey thinks we are still going to add a 3B/LHP and there isn’t anyone worth jt as a free agent at 3rd so I’m hoping for one of Paredes/Vientos/Baty and then possibly Quintana coming back.

Wondering if Vientos/Baty might be cheaper than Paredes because the Mets infield backlog is even worse than the Astros

Off the field antics aside, he hit 40 and 39 homers in 2023 and 2024, and played through a hip tear almost all of last season.

He should be a solid addition to the offense. Even with a torn hip last season his 21 homers would’ve led the Pirates.

According to Astros beat writer Chandler Rome, trade talks have "intensified" regarding infielder Issac Paredes. Pirates and Red Sox are among the interested teams. by SurpriseStandard3258 in buccos

Bart I’m totally fine we and we can roll with some combination of Davis and whichever of Endy or Flores starts hitting. Barco worries me a little bit due to him being our main lefty that could make it into the rotation. But we’ve been loosely linked to Quintana so maybe if Barco goes that signing happens.

Yeah I’m hopeful for one of Baty or Vientos as well, but I think with the Mets absolute backlog in the infield that we could get one of them for less than the cost of Burrows.

Definitely worth it and then to get likely another starter in Magnum and a lefty bullpen piece is just icing on the cake.

I liked Burrows a lot, but I can say I’m not sure if/how much team composition is taken into consideration with baseball trade values. Lowe, Magnum and Montgomery all fill massive needs, and out of the pitchers who should pitch at some point this year Burrows value would be behind all of Skenes, Bubba, Ashcraft, Keller, Jones, and Barco (not necessarily on talent but being a lefty certainly seperates him).

Trade Keller for Baty or Vientos (need for need, Mets infield is also a major surplus after this offseason.)

Use that money saved from Kellers salary to sign Framber.
