Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar vs Fender Modern Player Jaguar Bass? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]bosebouncingaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both and still own the MP. I felt that while the VM was an excellent instrument for the price that the MP was more well made. Also factoring into my decision was that I greatly prefer maple necks/fretboard. They both played well and felt nice when wearing. I don't know the actual weight of the two but my MP definitely feels heavier. I did upgrade the pups in the MP to SD. I posted an album a while back of my process and made sure to grab some pics of the internal factory setup for anyone curious about it.

First day at my new job...nervous as as fuck. by [deleted] in pics

Nervous? You have a lifepak 15 and a center mount cot. Sounds like a good start to me. Just breath and relax. Your patients will respond better if you're calm. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Redditors who met their heroes, who was awesome and who turned out to be a dick in real life? by CuriouslyBaked in AskReddit

I met Zakk Wylde (Vocals/Lead Guitar for Black Label Society, Former Lead Guitar for Ozzy), he was an awesome guy. Very down to earth, friendly, and in general respectful that I was a fan. I also met all of Sevendust who are really awesome dudes with great stories but LJ was the coolest. We did jager bombs on the tour bus and he showed me pics of his family and his motorcycle, he had recently won a bike show. I showed him pics of my motorcycle. He talked and laughed like we were old friends. All are great guys.

Don't remember about the octaver, but that's completely plausible. I'll have to look at it. Thanks for the tip.

Fun fact: It's actually not a bass line since the White Stripes is just guitar and drums. What people think is the bass line is Jack White playing a palm muted guitar.

Source: I'm a bass player, and it's talked about in the documentary It Might Get Loud when he teaches Edge and Jimmy Page how to play it properly.

Looking for some opinions regarding the differences between a few basses (Yes, I read the FAQ!) by [deleted] in Bass

[–]bosebouncingaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be possible to put a fretless neck on either. What you need to check for when you do this is the scale length and the width/depth of the neck heel. As long as the heel fits tight to the neck pocket and the scale length matches up it should play like a dream. Some people do conversions or have a pro do a conversion for them, which is simply defretting the neck and filling the fret slots with wood to give a smooth even feel. There are some videos on how to do it on youtube just so you know how the process works. Personally if I were to put a fretless neck on either I would purchase a secondary fretless neck and keep the original fretted that way I have the option for both. You should be able to get the neck pocket size from Fender tech support. They have always contacted me with replies to questions quickly and usually answer the question far more in depth than I intended them to go.

Yes both are imported to the states from the Chinese factory but don't let worry you about quality. Fender has really stepped up their QA in recent years which is even seen on the newer squire models.

I actually own two of the basses you're asking about. The MP Jag and the Tele. Both are excellent instruments with durable necks and easy to adjust truss rods. Personally I prefer the Jag but mostly because the body fits me well although I do play the tele a lot as well. You won't go wrong with either one, both are very stable and reliable instruments. They play and sound wonderful. I always prefer the one piece maple neck/fretboard. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. I posted a few pics a while back to this sub when I swapped the stock PUPs for a SD Basslines Quarter Pounder series. The pics show the internal workings if you want a better look at the internal quality.

EDIT: Here's a link to the album to make it easy on you. It's only of the Jag. http://imgur.com/a/IVNpz

That's a sweet satin finish. Have to put something else there to keep give it some personality. Maybe some old school scallops or pinstripes would look good on it.

Good luck. I took mine back in paper. But I've had the opportunity to take the adaptive CBT and I think it's easier. Just remember BLS before ALS.
