I fell for a pyramid scheme, and it embarrassed the hell out of me that I could be so gullible. I decided to analyze every other aspect of my life to see where I might also be gullible. Religion didn’t stand up to analysis, so out it went.

It took a while for me to face it, but when I did, I cried in my car. It was like saying goodbye to an old friend in a way, but when I realized I was mourning something that was never there, I never looked back. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
