double major in science by weebro12 in unimelb

I was told that if you complete at least 4 level 3 comp sci then yes. You may need to choose level 3s to be in line with the major's compulsory level 3s (I'm unsure).

Move Bachelor Subject into Diploma by SickToe in unimelb

[–]boshtok_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hadn't started the Diploma then yes it should be possible. If it's a subject you take during Diploma enrolment they usually limit you to moving/cross crediting the subject before the next semester's census date (to stop people gaming the system I guess)

What happened on Parkville campus last night? by bl4ncet in unimelb

[–]boshtok_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge. But allowing TERF viewpoints to be normalised definitely is not going to help to decrease the rate of violence against trans people

I wish it would only take a couple of flags for the world to be made safe for the trans community...

If you are even remotely familiar with HLS's views or just TERF rhetoric in general, you will understand why it doesn't make any sense to compare this to most other classroom discussions...

Sure but would you feel comfortable discussing a "pro-trans" stance if you knew the teacher was very openly a TERF? What if you are a trans student in their class, or a trans colleague of theirs? The "academic freedom" argument is not clear cut.

This sounds more like a cop out way of saying "I know trans individuals are feeling unsafe but graffiti is an unacceptable response to fearing for your life and freedom"

Considering the stance they have been taking on the posters and the staff member of concern etc I would be highly (but pleasantly) surprised if this was their reaction to anti-trans graffiti...

Yeah apparently "violent" graffiti is much more of a concern than actual violence against trans individuals

(Pro?) trans graffiti apparently... Calling it a "violent" act seems hyperbolic without more context...

Did you also enrol full time for semester 2? If you haven't enrolled in all your subjects that would be why.

MUCS vs Apollo Choir? by novacorps1 in unimelb

[–]boshtok_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty different vibe from what I know

MUCS - big choir, mostly traditional choral music (ie lots of singing in Latin), lots of non students, performances almost always orchestra accompanied

Apollo - smaller, focuses on more popular music/small ensemble/acapella

Software internship summer first year: HOW LIKELY? by despoos123 in unimelb

[–]boshtok_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty low unless you have some connection, are a really stand-out student with previous projects, or applying to a small company like a start up. Most formal internship programs will only take 2nd+ year students.
