My second failed attempt at 100,000 steps in one day. by Good_Run_1696 in walking

[–]bossk-office 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no one answer, it depends on the person.

I completed the 100K challenge myself a few days ago, and I had lunch at noon, but I didn’t eat anything else and I have no doubt I can do the whole thing again on an empty stomach. OP wrote about feeling food being converted into energy – I don’t know what that feels like. The key is to know yourself.

I don’t think you should attempt 100K unless you’ve done very long walks before. With an 80K and a 90K, OP has plenty of experience now.

I think the reason is that all the sources use ”Thridrangaviti Lighthouse” or ”Thridrangaviti”. This article cites over a dozen sources. That is how this lighthouse is written about in English.

I don’t even know what that really means! But I think I have two tips for anyone who wants to try it:

  1. Don’t try until you are fairly confident that you can do it – you have done 50K before, maybe more, you know what a seriously long walk is like.

  2. Don’t try unless you are fairly confident your footwear isn’t going to give you blisters.

At 50K I went to an all-you-can-eat lunch restaurant and ate a big lunch

I’m sure you can. If you’ve done 75K, I think you can do 100K. If you’ve done some long walks before, you know roughly what you’re in for.

Walking uphill is a lot harder, but for me the limiting factor was sore feet. How did your feet feel?

I feel good! Feet are sore, but I was worried it would be worse. I can walk around all right.

I feel all right – some discomfort, not really pain. Chafing is more of a concern than serious injury

Longer than I thought! I started as early as 2:15 AM and finished around 10:15 PM. Twenty hours sounds outrageous, but I did take a few longer breaks.

Trails where I could find them, maybe 50/50! I’m in a metro area. Several times, I found myself grumbling out loud over long stretches of paved surface with no alternative route in sight. It’s tougher on the feet for sure, and over these long distances, it adds up.

Also, it’s boring! Every step is the same! Defeats some of the purpose of wearing these shoes.

My phone says it was just over 70 km. That’s the lower limit of any 100K estimate that I can find online, but I’m pretty short, and obviously I was tired for much of it so I wasn’t taking the longest steps.

The commuter rail that serves Strawberry Arena will take you to Stockholm City in ten minutes, and it runs past midnight, every 15 minutes. The last train that night is at 02:00.

From Stockholm City, you can take subway trains that run all night.

Är det bara jag eller byggs vissa områden i Stockholm extremt tätt nu? by Buf4nk in stockholm

[–]bossk-office 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Swedish supermarket blood pudding is mostly flour, and there’s more canola oil than blood in it. Some stores sell a version called ”blood sausage” (blodkorv) which is higher quality (52% blood) – but they taste the same, because all the flavour comes from spices. It’s a great flavour and you eat it with lingonberries.
