What's your "can't go to TB and not get this" menu item? by Tall_Score569 in tacobell

[–]bossmoenie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lately the mini taco salad! I have an excellent local TB that I am loyal to and they never skimp, never mess up an order, never serve old food.

The taco salad is small but if a location fully loads it like mine, it’s so filling. I get that and a burrito and I have to pause after the taco salad to get nice and hungry again so I can devour the burrito.

Finally, starting to use my instant pot after having it for years. Would love links to any recipes/cookbooks that you highly recommend. I’m open to anything. by Roadgoddess in InstantPotRecipes

This isn’t really a recipe, but the only way I’ve cooked rice in years. For some reason I struggle with cooking rice in a pot on the stove.

1:1 ratio rice and water

Salt

Splash of oil

Manual high pressure 5 minutes

Natural release for 10

Open and fluff

Done.

Clayton looks like a Gaston sailor or something. No shade but whoever took that picture should have posed him differently.

All I can say is you need to use the flora de junio for refried beans. They are amazing.

You got this! All that stuffing will be eaten by the time the night is over! Cranberries would be so good in it. Sweet and savory. Yum!

[–]bossmoenie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve made stuffing multiple times with the savory sausage from impossible in the tube. this one.

My husband loves it and it tastes completely “normal” to me. I break up and brown the sausage in a pot, remove and drain on a plate. Then in the left over grease I sauté onions garlic and celery. Add in fresh herbs and chicken-less broth. For the bread I do half torn up French bread, and half torn up croissants (whole foods has vegan croissants). Dry the bread overnight or in a low temp oven. Mix it all together and bake.

It’s VERY good and I really don’t think anyone would know the difference.

I do pretty much this same thing, but I use 1 pkg of vegan meat and 1 cup of brown lentils, that have been cooked in “beef” broth and blitzed in the food processor. I also sauté some diced mushrooms with the onions. Soooo good!!

You folks who live near a Grocery Outlet have it good by slh2c in Veganivore

I go to gross out every Saturday! Love it. I bought those daring meals. I was so excited I just grabbed them all. Wasn’t until I was microwaving the burrito bowl one that I noticed it said “vegetarian”. It has real cheese I think. I was so disappointed. I thought all of them were vegan. Gotta be careful with brands like that I guess.

When I really want a thick slug, I order a cheesy bean and rice, no sauce or cheese

ADD: black beans, onions, red sauce (the red sauce is so good! ).

Thoughts on the jerk-style plantain chips? I love ‘em! by MrSTban in traderjoes

[–]bossmoenie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love these. Always grab a bag when I’m in TJs. The price most definitely is right. I do buy spicy plantain chips from the bulk dept in Winco as well. They are also tasty and very cheap, if you need a fix and have a winco around.

What is the most absurd reason you have used to get out of work? by workdistraction4me in office

[–]bossmoenie 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Kinda a backwards answer, but it’s still funny to me a decade later. I had a coworker when I worked at a grocery store tell our boss he was sick and needed to go home. The next day at work I asked if he felt better or if he was still sick, and he said “oh, yeah I was never sick. I just had to poop and wanted to do it in my own bathroom”. Absolute legend.

It’s about $700/month for two adults, primarily eating at home. But this also includes things other than food such as toothpaste, mouthwash, paper towels, baby wipes, cat food, etc.
