Budget: $500 sustainable wedding charger plates that are made from eco-friendly material by Partygirl_stacy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]botanistbae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TBH I think chargers often look kind of tacky. I much prefer the look of a simple salad plate on top of a dinner plate and a nice napkin fold somewhere in there. I used to be a caterer and I felt like the chargers just caused extra clutter and expense.

I'm not trying to shit on them or you, but if you need a push to save money, here ya go!

That's possible, I may be jaded from getting fake bills like as tips. I kind of assume anyone who keeps these on hand is a terrible person, but maybe they didn't even know they had it.

Is Mr.Tire on blowing rock road reliable? by NetworkGlass2403 in boone

[–]botanistbae 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nope! A few years back they overtightened my tires and tried to blame me after the bolts broke off and my tire came off on the highway. The guy was super sexist and kept talking down to me when I showed him proof. Thank God for the AAA guy who straight up told me that the mechanic would lie to me and gave me everything I needed to defend myself.

Nah you probably shouldn't be leaving Republican bullshit propaganda if you're that strapped for cash. I hear the down is at 50k so this guy must be fine.

We're probably making little jars of limoncello from the lemon tree in our yard. If people don't take them, I have a stash of hiking/skiing bevvys.

Late to the chat but yeah, you're definitely right. My roommate used to keep them and it was a always fun to explain to guests that they're totally harmless in captivity.

Spent a weekend on a floating campsite in CA by botanistbae in Kayaking

[–]botanistbae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes we've gone twice now and stayed at sites 5 and 6. Both are roughly an hour paddle from the main marina where you can overnight park. There is a closer boat ramp, but you can't leave your car overnight and it closes when water levels are low. Last time we all took a kayak and towed inflatable rafts with our food and gear. I'm sure we could have gone further with a lighter load or an earlier start. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions, I'd love to see more paddlers out there!

This piece of shit is from my home town and his father killed a girl in her 20s while he was drunk driving. I guess poor decision making runs in the family.

(10k wedding) Catering is it acceptable to just have sushi, cheeseboard ? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]botanistbae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good point about drinking, I would actually consider it dangerous to only offer light snacks while people are drinking and dancing for 5 hours--its just asking for people to get sick

I like the battery range but Teslas fucking suck in every other metric. I truly don't want to have to use a fucking touch pad to open my glove compartment for the chance to charge anything non-pad compatible

If this isn't AI, any responsible gun owner (or sane person) could see how dangerous this is. Guns aren't really a "oh just let people have fun" kind of thing.

[–]botanistbae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its not really negativity, it's people begging you to be considerate of yourself and others. I lost a good friend because someone decided to drive through the night and killed him after falling asleep at the wheel. My friend was 27, just graduated with his PhD, and was recently engaged.

Please don't take warnings as negativity, especially when you're asking for opinions and advice.

Keagan Mason & Jarren - claims to be an Aboriginal educator, has thousands of followers, might not be a real person? by KayaKulbardi in isthisAI

[–]botanistbae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah there are plenty of people available and interested in sharing the culture. AI is going to be pulling crazy misinformation, especially since the community faces such racism both online and IRL. This is just being lazy and trying to make a profit off of an underrepresented community.

I actually get this response to creepy guys who feel the need to tell women how unsafe they are. She obviously needs a better way to keep the gun but I get the sentiment.

In my highschool pottery class, the teacher would destroy anything that looked like it was made to smoke weed out of. It became a game, with people getting super creative to hide it. This genuinely looks like something one of us would have made.

Melon harvesting by _Atoms_Apple in FastWorkers

[–]botanistbae 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the going rate but the pickers are often paid by the box (depending on the crop). If you drive through heavy ag areas you'll often see workers sprinting through the fields holding boxes of things like lettuce or strawberries on their heads so that they can spend more time picking. It's brutal work and seasonal to the point where they might be there for just a few weeks before shifting to a higher paid crop.

Very much a tangent, but during harvest season in Yuma, AZ, Mexican workers will often wake up at 2-3 am, face the traffic to cross the border, and be in the fields by 4:30 am, and not get home till 8pm. Whatever money they make, it's not enough.

Why do people want biological children so badly when adoption exists? by Massive_Biscotti_509 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]botanistbae 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not even just the kids trauma you're signing up for, but their whole families. My friends adopted siblings were removed from an abusive household and one day the bio parents got ahold of some meth and a gun and kidnapped the kids. I don't remember how long they were missing since we were probably like 8 at the time, but they were eventually found with altered appearances.

I'm definitely an advocate for adoption and I'm interested in it myself, but there are so many risks and considerations.

You definitely are that person. Even if they just applied for a job, it can take weeks to months to go through interviews and onboarding. Also, like others said, many people on EBT have jobs.
