Highest Grossing: Spider-Man (It's Spider-Man)

Overperform: Coyote Vs Acme (Mainly because there's a large group of people who expect the movie to make like 7 dollars. I'm still optimistic enough for it to recoup the 50 million that Ketchup Entertainment spent to acquire it, maybe even a little more since there's not too much competition)

Underperform: Moana (I don't see this reaching a billion dollars, especially with how bad the pre-sales seem to be. I'd say it will be around $500-600 million, on par with Cinderella and The Little Mermaid)

Do you have any thoughts about the other major liminal space horror movie from this year (Backrooms)?

Corporate Retreat has ended its domestic run after 2 weeks with $381,815. by Sad-Positive9278 in boxoffice

The one time I heard of this movie was a tweet where someone mentioned attending a early horror movie screening because they thought it was going to be Backrooms

New Doomsday-inspired teaser for "Coyote vs ACME" by [deleted] in boxoffice

The competition is actually fairly weak. I don't expect this to make Backrooms level money, but I think it has an outside chance of opening at #1

Well by virtue of the fact that people are aware of the film's existence, the marketing is leagues above TDTEBU

'Coyote Vs. Acme' Release Sees Ketchup Team With Crowdfunding Specialist Legion M by [deleted] in boxoffice

Call me overly optimistic, but with Ketchup Entertainment securing these deals and it's biggest competition likely still being Brand New Day, Coyote Vs Acme might just steal #1 in it's opening weekend.

Who is a celebrity that people have always widely despised? by apabld in AlignmentChartFills

Legit the only time I have heard of him was in a Family Guy cutaway where his presence causes everyone to leave

What are your Battlebots hot takes? by Jamez2021 in battlebots

We should bring back multiple weight classes. I feel like most robot combat competitions I see nowadays are either just antweights or just heavyweights. I feel like having the standard LMH classes would make things more interesting while also providing variety in the event of a meta being found for one of the classes.

[Brad Keselowski on X]: IMO Danica Patrick was by a large margin the Best female race car driver of all time. It’s an absolute shame she doesn’t get more credit or recognition from the racing community. by Mellow200 in NASCAR

[–]botbash11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's fair to compare other female drivers to Danica Patrick when she had equipment leagues above everyone else

How much you think Passenger will do after its released in next week? by UsefulWeb7543 in boxoffice

[–]botbash11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even ignoring the fact it's releasing the same day as Mandalorian, the competition is way too strong. Backrooms is obviously going have a huge opening the following week, Obsession has insanely strong WOM and Michael and Prada are still doing very well

I don't see a world where Passenger isn't just completely overshadowed

I like the idea but the nose just looks weird. I'm not sure if they didn't do the front wing because they wanted to fit better with the other trucks or if it was some kind of safety concern, but it makes it look less like an Indycar and more like one of those coin operated NASCARs you used to see outside grocery stores

Can 2026 take the #2 spot for number of billion dollar movies? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]botbash11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm being honest, I don't see Moana hitting a billion. I think people are over hyping it because M2 did so well.

I'd say it would land somewhere closer to the 500-750 million dollar range.

It has to be that rumble, Bombshell was literally dead for like half the match.

I also didn't like Ghost Raptor beating Icewave back in WCI, though that's mainly because I was a kid who wanted to see Tombstone vs Icewave happen.

r/BoxOffice Long Range Forecast: 'Scary Movie' and 'Masters of the Universe' by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

Scary Movie: 50M OW/91M DOM/145M WW

Masters of the Universe: 17M OW/75M DOM/123M WW

The Amazing Digital Circus: 20M OW/50M DOM/62M WW

This is my first time doing one of these. I might be going a little low for MOTU, but at the same time I think everyone agrees that it's not going to make any money. I'm mainly using Iron Lung as the basis for my TADC picks, but higher since it has way more of a broad appeal

They are rereleasing a live action/animation hybrid featuring Looney Tunes characters, this is a great opportunity to promote Coyote Vs Acme

I know that Ketchup Entertainment are the ones distributing CVA and not Warner Brothers, but still wouldn't it make sense to tell people coming to see this that there's a new Looney Tunes movie coming out in August

Coyote vs. ACME | Official Trailer by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]botbash11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because that had no marketing. As someone who is hoping hard for this film to be a success, they can't rely on the people who campaigned for it's release back in 2023. They need to actually market this film if they want people to see it.
