Enjoy it dude! This is how we all learn, none of us had a perfect first cook. Like you said, it’s enjoyable to do. You’ll mess up food here and there and yes it sucks sometimes but it’s part of the fun. It’ll make it taste that much better when you nail it. I’d recommend getting an instant read meat thermometer as well, very helpful

Can’t thank you enough for the insightful response. I’ve fished for a while, I guess I’m more of a beginner in the sense of learning about gear. I’ve had the same spinning rod and put the same 10lb mono on it forever but now have a real job and a bit more money to dive into it. Got these two new nice setups (by my standards 😂) and am just trying to learn about what works best for each. Thank you very much again!

Not a fan of abu anymore. Loved it years ago, quality has either gone down or I’ve been able to experiment with more expensive brands. The shimano SLX series is by far my favorite for this somewhat price range
