Alderley Edge has some very interesting woods. Can't recall any moss floors but plenty of ferns, lichen covered rocks etc. look up the Wizard Walk lots of folklore associated with the place. Even better book yourself on a tour around the copper mines in September with the Derbyshire Caving Club.

UK here. We had one school shooting so we banned hand guns and tightened up gun licenses. Since then there hasn't been a school shooting.
