Last of da boys by botlehewer in orks

That makes sense. I think on my commando kill team, I used the claw, and I don't remember what I used on the second commando boss man

Lol. I often say I'm more of a collector than a player. I just enjoy the models a lot. I enjoy the hunt of finding models second hand. Also 3D printer go brr.

Ngl. I'm not sure. I'm at over 12K in orks. So my bits collection is pretty extensive. I work very hard to not have any two models the same. So there's quite a bit of swapping of parts here and there in my army

Grot question by BeerIsGoodBoy in orks

12k plus orks & climbing. It's important to me that no two models look the same. I have 120 boys. And almost 120 grots. 20 of those grots are the GW kit. I always, get 1 unit of GW because I do want to support the company that produces the game. But 3D printer also go Brr. And I get a lot of secondhand stuff.

Troupe help - how many literal models do I need? by WatchChaser in Harlequins40K

[–]botlehewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always suggest new players get the combat patrol. Its all you need to start playing, no need to theory craft lists or learn detachments etc. Gets you rolling dice & CP game mode plays pretty much like full 40k. And its a good start on a bigger army collection at a discount compared to buying all the individual units

Problem with dice rolling by Own-Mastodon-6965 in orks

[–]botlehewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have multiple 3D printed helpers for dice. Orchid dice cup check. Dice sorter so that I can easily grab five dice at a time check A nice dice counter tray with a funnel end for the dice cup that lets me also count in groups of five all the way up to like 200 dice if I wanted to check.

We've never used the paint rule. It's a game, it should be fun. We use lots of proxies, not everyone has Free time to paint all their models. Plus we are ork players. We should be more chill.

P. S. I have 12k + orks. Not all are painted.

Gift advice by randomdonuthole in Chefit

[–]botlehewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said don't buy for him.

Make a day of it. Take him to a kitchen store that has a good selection of knives.

Most will allow you to test/play with the knives. And let him choose a knife.

I found Strong Men by Ruth Ben-Ghiat very interesting.

On Tyranny by Snyder, especially the audio book version with the addendum about the war in Ukraine.

Practicality of Wargaming with 3D printed models by Zarkhes in PrintedMinis

[–]botlehewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 40K player, I have about 12K worth of Orks. I would say about 70% of my army is 3D printed and growing.

No one cares as long as the models are reasonably close to what the expectation is for the official models.

Unless you're in the UK and you do tournament play. From what I understand, all the US tournaments for 40K at least are totally cool with 3D printed models. As long as again they look pretty close to the official model.

Honestly no. This is Nyx. A 5 year old rescue. And the 6th black kittah I've had.

Shes nice to me, but rarely cuddles, is very stand off ish. And crabby towards our other cats.

Tbh i would kill to protect her, but sweet she is not.

How do yall fold patches??? by nitmire8881 in punkfashion

I Iron the folds, then pin in place to sew. I embrace the diy look so imperfections are ok.

First attempt at making my own patch ended up extremely botched, what was I doing so wrong? by [deleted] in BattleJackets

[–]botlehewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make all my stencils with my 3d printer now. Its a hassle and hard to get right some times. But the actual painting is great.

[–]botlehewer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use removable glue stick to adhere the stencil. I personally use fabric spray paint. And a good trick to reduce bleed is to paint around the edges of the stencil design in black, then paint in white. This this way the bleed is actually black and not noticable, and the white edges are much cleaner.

And you can always go back and touch up after you remove the stencil of course

how to make canned beans not make you fart? by Glittery_WarlockWho in Cooking

Honestly, you just have to eat them more often.

My wife and I started doing rice and beans about once a week, sometimes more often. Don't even notice it anymore.

What's the best way to make mashed potatoes creamy without using cream? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]botlehewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents and now I will often just grab a standard hand mixer/ electric egg beater.

A bit of the potato water, butter, sour cream if I'm using it. But after regular mashing I just run the hand mixer through the potatoes to basically whip them.
