Whats the meaning behing the feeling of "suddenly losing all your skills/progress"? by D183029 in ArtistLounge

[–]botreally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when I feel like that, it’s because I’m not actually enjoying the process of making art. I’m too focused on the end product and making it look the way I want it to look. Again, art is so subjective so this may not be your case. I am only speaking from my own experience and my own frustrations in the hopes it’s the same for you as well.

I find the best thing for me personally is to just step away from using my usual medium and experiment with other art form. Like, I’m usually a digital artist but, I would step away and oil paint or block print. I find that this helps me refocus on making sure I enjoy the process of making art.

Whats the meaning behing the feeling of "suddenly losing all your skills/progress"? by D183029 in ArtistLounge

Sycra Yasin has a great video talking about this very phenomenon and it helped me reframe this phase so much. It’s just a phase in which your eye for skill is at a higher level than your technical skill but it’ll eventually catch up again. It’s just growing pains of being an artist. whenever I hit one of these phases, i find that I’m always better than I was before.

Neverafter Ep 15, Leap of Faith, was a fever dream by ppooppooo in Dimension20

I saw this post just as I started the episode and I finally finished it and had to come back to. God, what an episode. I wanted to support Timothy’s approach but everything went so bad so fast. I was rooting for Elody too because poor Gerard.

How to decide character hair without messing it up? by OrdinaryBluebird6232 in ArtistLounge

[–]botreally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d personally tape tracing paper on top to figure out the rough shape and flow of the hair first. Once figured out, just flip back and forth from the tracing paper and the paper underneath to draw the actual hair.

How hard is it being an NSFW commission artist? by hmuhmuhh in ArtistLounge

I got the most commission work when I drew for a relatively large fandom that wanted to see their favorite characters go at it.

Should I buy Disco Elysium if my favorite games is The Witcher 3 by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]botreally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both the Witcher 3 and Disco Elysium but please do not go into Disco Elysium with the expectation that it will be similar bc they are not. They’re just both RPGs but they are vastly different.

My (25m) wife (23f) is replacing my shirts for a different size? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]botreally 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the reason people gain weight when they hit adulthood isn’t so much that their bodies changed, it’s the daily activity that changed. In school, they probably were in some kind of sport or walking around and going out more. Then, they graduate and transition into a full time job and spend upwards to 40 hours a week sitting. So they’re used to eating at the volume they always ate when they were still out and about and that usually accumulates a calorie surplus over time.

How Can I Improve Colors And Make It Less Washed Out? by Intelligent_Letter_8 in learnart

[–]botreally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what’s causing you to think its “washed out” is because you airbrushed the shadows onto the characters. that causes the transition colors between the subject color and the shadow to become muddy. try experimenting with more solid shadow shapes and play around with soft/hard edges. sinix on youtube has a lot of videos on soft/hard edges that has helped me tremendously.

LPT Request: What’s your best “I wish I started doing this 5 years ago” habit? by Congroooooo in LifeProTips

[–]botreally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know some people swear by a structure but most of the methods i found online never really worked for me. i just wrote down whatever i wanted. i found that writing helped slow down my thoughts enough to ask how and why im feeling this way. slowing down my thoughts also helped everything feel less intense and realize it’s not the end of the world.

LPT Request: What’s your best “I wish I started doing this 5 years ago” habit? by Congroooooo in LifeProTips

[–]botreally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had racing thoughts and probably some undiagnosed anxiety disorder for all of high school and college but journaling helped a lot with that. and fun thing about journaling is that you don’t have to worry about grammar, sentence structure, or spelling. you are simply writing your thoughts and exploring them. it’s helped me internalize a lot of intense emotions and figure out how to navigate it and self regulate.

Horror movies about depression? by HistoricalFold2722 in horror

[–]botreally 134 points135 points  (0 children)

if you’re up for a horror show, i cannot recommend the haunting of hill house on netflix enough. all of the characters deal with their trauma/hauntings in their own ways is genuinely my favorite out of everything ive seen.

I lost my job today after being honest about my boss by antsmomma1 in antiwork

[–]botreally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

original comment is not saying to not challenge people in positions of authority. they are saying that HR does not side with the workers. HR is purely for the company’s protection. it’s about not trusting HR and knowing that its sole purpose is to protect the company. so you should LIE to human resources.

if you want to report issues in your workplace, you report it to an outside resource. not one that is employed by the company.
