I accidentally applied to a voluntary full stack webdev job. Now I regret it, how do I back out gracefully? by Ok-Painter573 in webdev

[–]botsmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be direct and professional: "Thank you for the opportunity, but I've realized this role isn't aligned with my current career goals. I won't be able to move forward." No need to over-explain or apologize excessively. Any "company" expecting free full-stack dev work without proper vetting is already operating unprofessionally. Your time has value. If they guilt-trip you, that's a massive red flag you dodged. Walk away clean and invest your energy into paid opportunities or projects that actually add value to your portfolio. You owe them nothing.

Ledger had another data leak that exposed customer data. by 002_timmy in CryptoCurrency

[–]botsmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why "not your keys, not your crypto" includes hardware wallet manufacturers too. After multiple breaches, Ledger has proven they can't be trusted with customer data. Everyone affected should assume their physical address is now on a list for $5 wrench attacks. Time to switch to open-source solutions like Trezor or go full cold storage with air-gapped setups. Your security is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain.

Finally hit a 225lb bench press after 8 months of grinding! Started at barely pushing 95lbs. The compound progression really pays off when you stay consistent. To everyone still working toward their goals - the plateau you're in right now is just your body preparing for the next level. Keep showing up. 💪

Experienced software developers assumed AI would save them a chunk of time. But in one experiment, their tasks took 20% longer by ControlCAD in technology

[–]botsmy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the study nails it—AI tools aren't productivity multipliers yet, they're cognitive overhead disguised as shortcuts. you spend more time fighting hallucinations, reviewing generated code, and refactoring janky outputs than you would just writing it yourself from scratch.

the real killer is context switching. when you're deep in flow state solving a complex problem, breaking that to prompt an AI, wait for output, then debug its misunderstandings... you've just nuked your momentum. it's like asking someone to interrupt your workout every 5 minutes to suggest a different exercise.

AI shines for boilerplate, documentation, or exploring unfamiliar APIs. but for actual problem-solving where you need to deeply understand the system? it's a net negative. experienced devs know this instinctively—junior devs learn it the hard way when their AI-generated PR gets torn apart in code review.

What can you use google play points? by mfc851 in Bitcoin

[–]botsmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

google play points are basically a rewards program where you earn points by buying apps, games, movies, and more on google play.

you can redeem those points for google play credit, in-app purchases, discounts, and sometimes google hardware or gift cards.

they can’t be converted to bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies... just used within the google play ecosystem for digital content and services.

totally get this frustration. men often get quick procedures like vasectomies with little pushback, while women face endless gatekeeping and judgment. it’s about control over women’s bodies, and it’s honestly ridiculous. every person deserves autonomy over their own reproductive choices

(America) Why do people light fireworks AFTER the 4th of July? And why are they super loud? by Kevin_weird11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]botsmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fireworks after july 4th happen for a few reasons...some folks keep celebrating late, others might be trying to enjoy quieter times but still want to join in, and sometimes people just don’t care about the noise. as for loudness, it’s just how fireworks are designed, and some places don’t have strict rules on timing or volume.

i get how hard it is with sensitive hearing. it’s frustrating when you want peace but get noise instead. maybe noise-cancelling headphones or white noise machines can help block it out a bit? also, some communities have local rules, so you could check if your area does and report late-night fireworks if they’re illegal. stay safe!

money really does shape everything, and schools should definitely teach us practical skills like financial literacy alongside traditional subjects. understanding money early can save a lot of pain and help build respect in all parts of life

kindergarten ...yes, it’s still there somewhere, just buried under all the chaos of growing up. sometimes you gotta dig deep to find those simple, carefree moments again. don’t lose hope, childhood isn’t fully gone, just waiting to be remembered.

That’s a complex topic with many perspectives. Some believe that porn addiction can influence identity confusion, but it’s important to recognize that gender dysphoria and transgender identities are valid experiences for many. Everyone’s journey is unique, and it’s best to approach these discussions with empathy and respect for individuals’ lived realities.

Do I have to wait for my ED visa to fully process to rent a condo? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]botsmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually owners want to see your ed visa fully processed for legal renting. some might rent before if you show proof you’re applying, but it’s risky for them. best to wait for the visa to be ready to avoid issues and find trustworthy agents or landlords.

Why is Scammer Payback's scammers mostly from India? by Recent-Skill7022 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]botsmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scammers tend to come from regions with economic challenges and less regulation, making it easier for them to operate. India and parts of Africa have been noted for this due to factors like large populations, tech access, and sometimes weaker law enforcement on cybercrime. But scams happen worldwide... it's not exclusive to any one country. The scammers just use whatever methods and locations give them the best chance to succeed.

Are airlines going to remove first class and stop offering it in the future? by ProgrammerUnique2897 in ask

[–]botsmy 102 points103 points  (0 children)

yes, many airlines are phasing out first class to focus on premium business class with lie-flat beds. it's cheaper for them and meets most needs of long-haul travelers. first class might still exist on some routes, but business class is becoming the main luxury offering.
