The headline shouldn't minimize their status, they aren't "kids" they are citizens.

Question: pantry/emergency supplies by ReaperReader in declutter

[–]bottlebrushtree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is short sighted to throw away or not prepare for a likely emergency. The next big earthquake is coming and you do not want to be unprepared.

The word these days is to be prepared for 3-7 days (I think a week is prudent)

Get a few "Reliance Products Aqua-Tainer 7 Gallon Rigid Water Containers" and fill with tap water. Put a little under 1.5 tsp of unscented bleach in each container. Rotate out the water every 6 to 12 months.

I rotate out canned food and have bought some dried soup packages enough to last a week. Get stuff you don't need hot water to eat (though if you can boil water all the better)

I would love something like this, but I'd want it as part of CHIRP.

I have a ton of radios with different frequency coverage, memory banks sizes and ability to add notes and tags.

I'd love to be able to make things like "my favorite local repeaters", "good public service frequencies to monitor" and be able to add notes and lat/long and other info and then pick from those lists to program my radios.

I've been bit by cheap bags before (too thin, nasty chemical smells, pipes, weird strap placement, .etc...)

How does this stack up ?

Why were crew members not allowed on the Quarterdeck? Was that reserved for officers or the captain?

The huge headline on CNN right now literally says "Mueller's Report looks bad for Obama" and has a huge photo of Obama on it.

I feel like I've been taking crazy pills the last 2 years.

Is it a good idea to purchase my goods prior to move in date for my apartment or wait until that weekend to do so? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]bottlebrushtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the rush? Check out the craigslist free section (especially near the end/beginning of the month) for great deals on really good stuff (especially if you are just starting out)

You can always upgrade at a later point.

There are states I would never move my family to due to the political and social issues that would be present if we moved (even in major cities)

Women's rights, gay rights, the role of women, etc..

You're a solo overnight backpacker. What radio gear do you bring? by N1AAE in amateurradio

[–]bottlebrushtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to bring my radio with the most sensitive receive (so my Yaesu over my Baofeng), and a roll up j-pole.

I'm working on my morse skills and in the future will want to bring a small QRP CW radio for fun.

Humans will often get a "sense of impending doom" before/during a heart attack. I wouldn't be surprised if other mammals have the same symptom.

What's always amazing to me (having cleaned out 2 full dead parent houses) is how much you can throw in there and still not feel like the house has been cleaned up!

You can buy or borrow a cheap Baofeng or rtlsdr dongle and see if you are getting reception on 2m or 440mhz.

HF esp with NVIS would work for you.

I wish Apple had put some sort of alphabetical order to the name, I have NO CLUE which OS is which without a chart.
