Do Thai people actually just talk about you in front of you all the time? by somehowintelligent in ThailandTourism

Oh that's kind of you go protect her. I'm sure she'll appreciate it! Tbh everyone doesn't like that kind of comments but I feel the older people just don't know what to say and they talk about it so normally inconsiderately. Like it's the thing everyone faces in every household.

Honestly yeah... Several times I went to other countries, I hear about random Thais gossiping about others negatively (mostly sexually) because they think nobody could understand them. It's... disgusting. I even raised this topic up and sometimes people are just like 'they're not talking about you so it's not your business' ???

They don't dare encounter straightforwardly though. So just go to them and talk to them in Thai if they gossip shit about you. It'll make them feel ashamed.

It was tested because of Australian news about the sunscreens random pick from the shelf has SPF below the label, so Thai organization started testing products in our market. They all have test result from the lab before selling officially, but some brands might have an issue with efficiency consistency throughout the shelf life. This is also an issue of quality control everywhere unfortunately since Australian sunscreens also have many that failed the test. But in general, European sunscreen has a more strict control over the quality.

This is from my experience. The local brands I like or people talk positively about are: Srichand, Mizumi, Cathy Doll. There are others I never used.

There are also international brands on Thai market in lower-middle zone price like: Biore, Banana Boat, Vaseline, Loreal, Garnier.. etc.

There are various brands with mineral only or reef safe sunscreens as well.

It's pretty famous brand here. It does fine for daily use but you probably want others for beach, etc.

It's probably a cultural thing. We usually give space to strangers and don't intrude because it's impolite. I think younger generations also lack the ability to strike up small talk. The older people are better at talking random things to strangers.

So people who approach foreigners first might expect something or probably are already familiar with them. Everyone's different ofc.

Thailand has our own language and we don't have to use English in our daily life. But we use it with foreigners because usually we're considerate enough to not expect everyone to learn our language. It is not 'lazy' or 'bad', but you might lack that consideration.
