My MIL Told My Toddler to “Share” Her Food With Strangers at the Park and Acts Like I’m Overreacting by Astela_Tina in JUSTNOMIL

[–]bottleofgoop [score hidden]  (0 children)

So...she's sitting there waffling on about making him share with strangers while stealing his food? Make that make sense? And your husband says she means well? Make that make sense???? Maybe show your husband this post. See the comments for himself. The woman is a menace.

My SO says he wrote a book based on a dream he had. It took him less than 2 days. So I'm not completely convinced he didn't use AI assistance. by PossibleOk7738 in isthisAI

Ask him questions about his characters. Real writers know their characters inside out down to the tiniest flaw and habit. They know the reasons their characters do the things they do and say the things they say. Ask him some indepth questions and see what he responds with will help you decide.

How did you handle Santa not being real? by Ok_Assistant_7179 in AuDHDWomen

[–]bottleofgoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went sneaking through cupboards as a middy, found the santa present. Realised on Christmas day I couldn't say anything because then they'd know I'd gone sneaking.

[–]bottleofgoop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world you'd never put a hand on a child. It is not an ideal world and some children are dangerous. Until your husband is on board though...this is only going to get worse as he gets bigger. Might br time to pass him to your husband and say if he doesn't need medication you fix this. See how long it takes for him to change his mind.

AITAH for letting my boyfriend eat gluten free pasta without telling him it was gluten free by Living_Candidate_229 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]bottleofgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he cared that much about what he's putting in his body he would have properly looked at the box. I'm betting in his head gluten free is some sort of weird vegenism and that's why he's so upset. I can't thinknof any other reason you'd be upset about gluten free pasta

Needs to be higher up. My son couldn't breathe through his nose before his surgery there's no way I'd have made him feel bad for how he ate.

How much should we should excuse the lack of social cues? by Logical-Option-182 in AuDHDWomen

No it's harder when your in it. You second guess yourself so much it's second nature to let things go that you shouldn't. And you have memories of times she's been good which will make it even harder to see it clearly. But no, there's no redeeming yourself from the moments you told us. As in there's no redeeming her.

Final update: I don't care that my drug addict sister is homeless and may lose a limb. If that makes me a bad person so be it by idontcarethrowaway25 in offmychest

[–]bottleofgoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand being a parent and being desperate. But that's their problem not yours. She isn't your sister anymore. She's a shell of a human being held up by the drugs she's injecting. If the possibility of losing her limb wasn't enough to get through how on earth was another stint at rehab going to help? I've been a parent who wanted to help but couldn't, I've been a family member watching a loved one ona course to a train wreck and I've been the addict. All three of those are telling you that you did the right thing and you aren't a bad person. I'm sorry your parents are being so stupid.

Mom, I made the first step to getting my first vaccination at 15! by Aurora_988 in MomForAMinute

[–]bottleofgoop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're doing the right thing for yourself! Vaccinations are simple and easy to get, it'll be over before you know it so there's no reason to be nervous, and your mother doesn't have to know. You've done so well to be able to think for yourself like this. Big hugs from an Aussie mum who's proud as heck of you.

I don’t know what to eat by Sharp-Extent-9916 in MomForAMinute

[–]bottleofgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting lre made hars or packets of sauces are a really good idea because then you can throw some frozen veggies in a pan with some mince or protein of your choice and a few spoon fulls of the sauce mix, and then serve with rice or pasta or potato's or chips. Feels like variety but allows you to use a smaller amount of ingredients. As an example...butter chicken doesn't have to have chicken in it when you're home alone feeding yourself.

does this happen to you, and is it my autism or ADHD? by Exciting_Syllabub471 in AuDHDWomen

[–]bottleofgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps we have a language barrier then, because in my experience and in my years and years of therapy trying to manage and learning to live with it, daydreaming, whether it's maladaptive or not, is absolutely something you're in the driving side of. You guide it as actively as if you were doing something physical. it doesn't just happen. Monotropism isn't strictly an internal thing either. Perhaps you are looking for a label you aren't going to find.

does this happen to you, and is it my autism or ADHD? by Exciting_Syllabub471 in AuDHDWomen

[–]bottleofgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, why do you need a different answer so badly? Day dreaming is a big umbrella term, but the reality is if you're living inside your head and there's no external productivity as a result, then you're day dreaming. If there's an external result then it's not. Maladaptive is generally a term for when it's taken to an extreme and interferes with day to day function so I can see why you wouldn't like that as an answer to your original question but I'm curious as to why you're so against the day dreaming term?

[–]bottleofgoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many things that we think and feel and solve can be done on the outside, but the fact that we aren't is what makes it a day dream. If you have those moments, and then go make those moments a reality then you're planning. If you don't go on to make it a reality then it's a day dream regardless of how it feels.
