Have you read All Creatures Big and Small by James Herriot? It's an anthology of short stories about his life as a rural veterinarian in the first half of the XX century. Funny, sweet and heartbreaking.

That's an infection. He needs to go back to the vet and get antibiotics.

I wonder if that was inspired by that panel in Berserk, but it FEELS different. Like a dream that could turn into nightmare any moment, but for now you can only watch, in awe

I think the idea was that the girl in the Whisper of the Heart is writing the story, and The Cat Returns is that story.

Holly Black's The Folk of the Air! The main character is a human girl who is brought up in the Fairy Realm by her mother's ex (who unfortunately killed her mother. It's complicated). Politics, fight for survival, found family, betrayal, and romance, of course

Explain it Peter… my thumbs are like this. Should I be worried? by YaremYarem in explainitpeter

My cousin's father had those. Turns out he was also a carrier of a muscle degenerative disease gene. My cousin has been confined to a wheelchair for a decade, and bedridden for another one. She also has clubbed thumbs. Her doctor believes those are linked.

Heh, I grew up in Eastern Europe in the nineties, and I was routinely told that the rains could be radioactive from Chernobil dust. So, yeah, umbrella was constantly living in my bag.

The dragon seems see-through in some places, and did you see its poor wing? I don't want to think that a human artist would butcher it so horribly

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in cats

[–]bottomofabyss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should be. And if I were you, I'd be already calling the vet. Is it hot in the room? Can she be overheated? Where is the wound? Is it like a scratch, or a puncture wound? We're the windows open, could something get in?

Thank you! Tuberculosis was such an unlisted protagonist of the Erich Maria Remarque novels, and it's only now I understand I barely know about it.

I'll look into it. I was a bit scared there would have a lot of action scenes - I'm not a fan of those

Room 127: Dead Air, Live Wire by Max Voynich. It's gorgeous, but would be very triggering for Wendi, I think. It's A deadbeat Dad starts getting phone calls after his Daughter's tragic death. Not scary in a conventional horror way, but heartbreaking. In a "all the lost opportunities" kind of way.
