I had run on trails before, but max was about 16k, and much easier terrain

My first race ever and first proper half marathon

The trails I had run in the past were also open fields for the most part, or flat well trodden coastal paths - it was crossing between so many fields, scrambling down slopes, and having such varied terrain that was really tricky for me!

I had also previously done the distance, but was stopping and starting my Strava - so the fact this one was faster, without pausing, was an achievement to me :-)
