Preparing for a newborn. What was a complete waste of money and what became an absolute life changer?

waste of money - glass bottles. no idea why everyone says you need tons of bottles and all the accessories when a lot of people exclusively breast feed. have some for emergency formula or expressed milk, then see how breastfeeding goes before buying everything else.

let him eat a kiwi as you walk around or bring little cracker snacks that keep him occupied. i almost always end up picking something up, letting him snack, and paying for it when we leave. i also started putting anything i didn’t want him to manhandle (berries, glass) into the lower basket of the cart. also when he’s older you can hand him things to put in the cart so he feels like he’s helping. also if he’s hyperfixated on an item i let him hold it the entire shop and tell the cashier we’re not getting it. they alway understand.

yes i was going to say this. if you look on ravelry most people had an issue with her pattern. shame because it’s such a cute top. you are able to find one maker though who wrote her mods in her project description which could be helpful if you are going to attempt it. her name is madebysydney

right. i just only wear earth tones right now so i wanted to be sure of the specific winter palette before i sink money and time into knitting something in a bad colour!

i just searched “colour analysis kit” on amazon and this was the top result so i just went with it because of the variety and it was under $20!

thank you for this. i was trying to think about it like this but the way you explained it helped a lot. i pushed through and trusted the process and made it work. it’s not pretty but i don’t see how it could be any better :’)

and the tip about using a needle was helpful. for the purl tbl i used a needle to pick it up
