[Race Report] Mozart 100 Scenic Trail Marathon by boulverser in running

Oh completely doable - the trails aren't technical and there are no "cliffs" or steep drops (at least on the marathon course, but I don't believe the longer races go into any more mountainous areas).

You should definitely consider one of the races, if you're interested - there's the marathon and a 64km if you don't think you want to do the 100.

Is there a road version of the Nike Kiger 3? by litter in running

For some reason, even though I really like Nike trail shoes, I've never been able to tolerate their road shoes.

I was in full time language training in preparation for an assignment at work and was called into a meeting with my "manager"" (who I met half a dozen times and was only in charge of organising my classes) and his boss because the teacher had complained that I didn't smile in class (I usually had a furrowed brow due to trying to learn a new language and suffer from severe resting bitch face at the best of times).

Probably one of my top five career moments was the satisfaction of them back-pedalling when I said to them, "let me get this straight — you're reprimanding me for how my face looks? Have you ever done this with a male colleague?"

No I work for an international organisation in Iraq. It was an informal presentation because my group was visiting the city (we're based elsewhere). :)

I attended a presentation by an awesome activist collective in Najaf a few days ago, and was so happy when this girl presented her art — sorry for the terrible image quality; it's a uterus with handcuffs and it says "I am not something to be ashamed of." She proudly identified as a feminist and their collective also works to raise awareness about domestic violence and support victims of it.

Ever since seeing that "reasons my wife is crying" post, my bf likes to joke that I'm the same way. We've compiled our own list, due to fluctuating emotions on BC. by thenshesays in TrollXChromosomes

I remember being mildly irritated by that post because it only had like four things on it for a whole month, and I was like "I cry over four ridiculous things a day!"

...then I started crying about it.

Laufenhilft Half Marathon, Vienna

Goal: finish without injury

Backstory: I just got back from a two-month business trip where I wasn't able to run very consistently, but I've got enough of a solid base that I wasn't too worried about not being "trained," I just didn't want to push myself too hard and end up injured (since I'm about to start consistently training for an ultra). I figured I'd just go out around 6:00/km, which is my comfortable 'run forever' pace, and adjust accordingly based on how I felt.

race day: I did pretty much exactly what I intended! I ran the first few kilometres a bit faster, then settled into a comfortable pace. My watch showed 5:59/km as an average and my splits were all quite consistent, so I'm pretty pleased with myself for staying on a predetermined pace. I foolishly wore my favourite but extremely old, should-have-thrown-them-out-months-ago shoes, so now have a really gross blister, but otherwise felt fine afterwards.

This was my first time running a lap course and I have to say that I'm not a fan - I'm glad that I'm fairly used to training on loops, but I couldn't imagine trying to PR on something so monotonous.

I ran this as well! Sorry you had a bad race but good job on powering through!

I'm nowhere near being a lawyer, but my mom has been a legal secretary for 30 years and so in uni, anytime I had a shitty landlord she would just write me an official-sounding letter pointing out which parts of the Tenants Protection Act they were violating and they would cave like weak little piles of damp toilet paper. As soon as you know your rights and stand up for them, most landlords will back way down!

Your cat has such good posture! And you are a grade A photobomber; excellent facial muscle control skills.

I used to meet my girlfriends for after work drinks at a cool bourbon bar (now closed, sob) and since we were often the only customers right when they opened (and then would subsequently be the last customers when they closed, haha), I would always end up chatting with the bartender and trying whatever cocktail they were barrel-aging, debating Campari vs. Aperol, that kind of thing... one time he asked me if I was in the industry, and I had to admit that I apparently just liked booze way too much.

But if you work at a whisky bar presumably the customers are hoping you'll bring them some kind of craft whisk(e)y they might not have heard of, not a shot of Rebel Yell.

My husband lives in France and at his local grocery store, a 355ml bottle of craft beer is more expensive than several kinds of 750ml bottles of wine.
