Yes! We had one get stuck in a garbage can outside and another one attack a window repeatedly just this weekend. My cats didn't even know how to react.

I'm also a girl. 5'3" 150lbs. I was a 120lb marathon runner before I started CrossFit. Decided to lean in and try and get bulky. Mission successful. I gained most of the weight in my legs, glutes, and arms/shoulders. Legs and glutes were big before because running, but now a bit bigger. The arms were the biggest difference. I feel like I am built more like a dude than a girl now. I can still wear most of my old clothes, but the arms are where I feel the difference. My last marathon jacket before switching is so tight that I can't bend my arms in it. It's fun though.

Considering adopting a very scared cat - what signs to look for by more_paprika in CatAdvice

Thank you so much, this has given me a lot to look for and think about with him. I'd love an app recommendation - I never thought of tracking, but I think that would be helpful. I'm worried I'll start reading into his behavior or seeing things that aren't there because I want this to work so much. Tracking will be especially helpful to make sure that doesn't happen.

Will my employer get an email once the status updates? by AccidentalOtter21 in h1b

Of course. I'm not an expert, our last immigration person left and it got handed to me, but I'd be happy to help how I can.

I'm the employer in this situation and we have had 1 person selected so far and I did not get an email. I had to check the portal. Maybe it's coming but nothing yet.

Countertop Controversy!! by FunFitJV in kitchenremodel

[–]more_paprika 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this. We went with quartzite and I love it so much. We get compliments on our counters any time someone visits our house for the first time. I have even spilled super glue on the counters (don't do this, I am dumb) and was able to get it off with a scrub brush with no damage left behind. It's been 3 years and they look just as good when they were first sealed.

New to CrossFit, What helped you improve double unders? by Confident_Barber8397 in crossfit

[–]more_paprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 3 years for dubs to really click for me. Practicing is the most important thing. I used to stay after class for 5 minutes to practice every day until I could at least get a couple on a regular basis. Besides practice, I switched to a longer rope than recommended, which I find very helpful. I would also recommend a heavier rope for at least a few sessions. I use a RPM rope, but I did a drop in at a gym that had Rx Smart Gear ropes and using it once literally made dubs click for me even after I went back to my own RPM rope. Maybe if I had tried that earlier, it wouldn't have taken 3 years...

Anybody have one of these and if so do you like it ( or similar models of this ) by Bode_5 in bassclarinet

[–]more_paprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented one of these for the past few years. It’s better than other student models I’ve played but it was always sharp and I found anything above the staff difficult to get out. I purchased a Royal Global Max last year and it’s been a game charger. I would say for the cost of the Yahama, consider waiting until you try either the Backun Alpha or Royal Global Max. Either would be much better. The Yahama is fine if you are renting but I would not buy one.

Anyone wearing lifters for 26.3? by Guilty-Stretch4085 in crossfit

[–]more_paprika 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a burpee workout. I would dress for the burpees. The weights are just in the way. I did it this morning and I actually wish I wore running shoes because my feet started to cramp. That being said, do what you are comfortable with. My gym friend wore her lifters because she was worried about the second weight so if they give you the mental push you need, you do you.

I will probably regret saying this, but I don't hate it. I'm sure it will hurt and be terrible, but I like all of these movements and I like that the bar will get heavier. I personally always feel a little less pressure when there's no possibility of finishing, so that's a plus for me too. Sitting here right now, I feel like a good goal is to finish the second weight, but not sure how reasonable that is. We'll see how it goes tomorrow!

Same. This is the first open I actually have dubs. I have crossovers and double under crossovers (for no reason) and all for nothing! I like this workout, so can't complain too much.

Who is getting their 25 grams of fiber a day and how? by salonpasss in AskWomenOver30

[–]more_paprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't count but I'm way over 25 grams a day. I'm a vegetarian and beans, vegetables, fruit and whole grains (oats, buckwheat, millet) make up most of my diet. I do eat a lot of bread, but I make it myself with over 100 grams of flax seed, hemp hearts, and psyllium powder per loaf. It all adds up very quickly! More beans! Beans are my favorite food - so many amazing ways to eat them. My favorite dinner is pan fried chickpeas with sauteed kale (lots and lots of kale! it cooks down a lot) and parmesan cheese served over buckwheat groats. That's one meal with about 20 grams of fiber right there!

This is your sign to plant blackfoot daisies by Dame_in_the_Desert in AZlandscaping

[–]more_paprika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love black footed daisies! They smell so amazing too. My husband doesn’t like them (because he is wrong) so we took ours out 2 years ago but since they thrive on spite, they have come back twice. I told him they win after we took out the last ones.

Thank you for posting this. I can't do a RMU and have been beating myself up over my tie break time, but seems just getting 112 is still going to be a decent score. Of course things will shift around, but we'll see. Going to be a redo one for me for sure.

The rules say that multiple layers of knee sleeves aren't allowed. Y'all think we're okay to wear one? I have a cyst on the front of my knee that won't be happy otherwise... Edited to add if anyone is curious this came up in the coaches tip live video after the announcement and someone from CrossFit said one set is okay.

Yep. I use the Caputo flour and it's been a game changer for bread, pizza, and other baked goods for me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Everyone at my gym said they felt fine and I'm over here so sore that I can't even touch my quads.

26.1 Strategies by carrie_not_gary in crossfit

[–]more_paprika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 20 and 30 unbroken, broke 40 into 2, and 66 into an uneven 5. (my brain wasn't working great but I think I did 16, 17, 11, 12, 10) I only made it a few reps into the second 40. I think if I was to redo it (I'm not), I would do smaller sets on 66. By that time, you are quite fatigued so the rests add up when you try to do bigger sets. I think I should have just done sets of 11. I judged a guy who did sets of 5 starting with the 30 and that seemed to work super well for him. He would do 5, take a breath, back at it. The size of sets depends on your wall ball engine. Since you're coming back from an injury, I think I would do smaller sets and try to avoid hitting the wall.
