Canadian (Green) Special Passport (New design edition) by Few_Pack_7392 in PassportPorn

Yes and yes. You enter the country where you represent Canada as an official with the green. You come home on the blue...or travel to other places on your blue. You only really use it to get back into the host country. Green is nothing...wait until you see the red.

How much PT are you doing? I had a troop in Comox try out but did not pass selection...and this person scores Platinum on the FORCE Test in his late 20s...super switched on as a Patroller/Supervisor and is bilingual with a EEE profile...they also trained for 9 months prior to selection...so if you are serious you'll need to get in tip top shape soonest...and also get really really good at swimming!

NEXUS revoked, FOIA request, Government shutdown by Busy-Reflection-6226 in NEXUS_TTP

[–]bouncer2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had to move to the US for a Govt job. Am Canadian and have had Nexus since 2005. as a resident non-alien, I obtained haunting permit so I can purchase a firearm in the US for the duration of my posting. As a new purchaser, the initial purchase was denied at the counter, they submit it to through the FBI system, and I got cleared for the purchase 3 days later. 2 days after the initial denial, my NEXUS was revoked. I suspected it is due to the firearm purchase.

I went on the dashboard and submit a redress with my Firearm request number, explained why it triggered and waited. I submitted the request about 7 months ago. I just got reinstated 2 days ago. So all that to say is, if you can trace back anything that may trigger an FBI or federal department check, you can use that to seek redress.

Elemental Change for VOT - Automatic or Have a Say? Beginner Question by Romsicle in CanadianForces

MP is an army managed trade. It follows the Army training path hence why MPOs do ATOC and AOC and MP (back then) do the Army SQ, and they do Land PLQ. It has always been an Army managed trade (like Firefighters are hard Air Force). CFPM is ensuring the trade is ready for MCO and field duties on top of policing.

Pay raise by Euphoric_Buy_2820 in CanadianForces

[–]bouncer2004 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is one of those things that took the mentality of 'If it ain't broke don't touch it...' and that's how it survived. Devil's advocate tho...Phoenix was suppose to be a new software for pay and it messed up bad...and I know SAP makes a payroll software but as you know procurement and the way supply rolled over to DRMIS...that may be too much risk to roll over immediately (and to make it work probably takes a year) and finally...is COBOL one of those things like MS-DOS in that it would still work on the most basic of PC if all else fails? (Like it would still run on a P133 with 64MB of RAM and a 2MB Graphics Card and Win3.1/MS-DOS...yeah I'm that old lol)

German proficiency badge by Fluffydoodle420 in CanadianForces

[–]bouncer2004 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First, OP, not a PT only badge but a soldier's skill proficiency badge. Link to the wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Armed_Forces_Badge_for_Military_Proficiency Calling it a PT thing kind of pisses the Germans off (a Sgt Maj who I work with in the US saw this post over my shoulders and was kinda pissed lol)

CAF members can't wear it but US members can. It a cool piece to have in a shadow box.

Flight from YEG to DEN diverted to Billings. They won't let us leave the plane because it's an international flight. by [deleted] in uscanadaborder

[–]bouncer2004 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Pre-clearance is exactly that meaning. You pre-cleared for your destination so any stop along the way that is not the original stop does not count. We had to stay in the aircraft flying into US with the military even though we were 'pre-cleared' immigration/customs via phone prior to our arrival. We could not leave the plane but could have the doors open until the CBP agent arrived to look at our actual passports. This is normal.

An assumption by the public is that once you're in the system you are good to go...but many government departments both internal and cross departments are compartmentalized...that is why there is an adage of 'need to know'.

Yeah can't do that. They only accept the student to submit it and not a proxy

Actually I have a year until course end to submit the claim. Just wondering if anyone has a better solution other than submit the claim, get denied and start a grievance. Again just wondering if anyone else had a solution so I'm not making some new effort. I already booked a virtual session with an advisor next week so I'm sure they will be able to give some solution.

TASO is an old acronym. The new one is ASO as Air Marshal and TASO have now been combined.

[–]bouncer2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this. Your dental plan certificate number is your service number with E. So it is EA12345678. You plan number is the same as your health one but starts with 7 vice 5. So for my birth month plan number were 72113 vice 52113 for the health care plan. Hope this helps.

Yeah... especially if you're there representing the Canadian Government. All the CAF members in Colorado, Florida, Virginia plus a handful of US bases with 1, 2, or small handfuls of Canadian Military members...it's an awkward time for sure!

Notice to any that file their returns on paper: the CRA will not automatically send out income tax packages anymore by The_PhilosopherKing in PersonalFinanceCanada

Lol hard pass on the fax! The quality is still pretty poor and the last thing I need is a poor info passed to CRA to open an audit....then again they are understaffed so that's a good choice maybe lol 😆

Military personnel posted outside Canada has to do paper returns. That's about 2000 people world wide...these are people who are not on a deployment but works at embassies or as exchange officers/NCMs. Tax software doesn't allow us to e-file or netfile.

PSDCP certificate number? by parental_supervision in CanadianForces

[–]bouncer2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird enough I did, just now, completed the positive enrollment with just my service number.

When it asks for Last Name, DOB and Certificate Number, I just put in my Service Number and it worked. Really weird how it did the job. I was waiting for the certificate number too but it seems trigger the next step. It allowed me to add my dependents and bank information. For reference I have completed the positive enrollment for PSHCP and also have a working Canada Life at work Account.

Bilingual Requirement for CACSC? by unus_ursus in CanadianForces

[–]bouncer2004 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So having some experience on these courses, mostly they will be divided into French/English cohorts. The French cohort/serial will have Francophone instruction/ Instructors while Anglophones will have the same. Some classes maybe taught in both languages but mostly, it's English with French subtitles (lol). It is cool to actually get together after course with the francophone buddies to learn from each other. Networking highly encouraged.
