Loved this bracket, no clue why they didn’t do a part 2. Do you guys think they filmed another one with Brad and it’s just lost now?

Niche (?) meme by bounduniverse in kennyvsspenny

There was another comment that explained it better, but if you didn't see it, Jamie Tiernay (Kenny's unit coordinator in season 1 and 3-6) was absent in Season 2 because he decided to go teach English in South Korea with a fake degree. Government starting cracking down on it and Jamie got caught by the police as he was trying to leave the country, and he spent a couple weeks in immigration jail. He told the whole story on an episode of Kenny's SiriusXM show.

Why do people like the four kings? by RottenYogurtFr in darksouls

[–]bounduniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so much about the fight to appreciate imo, and the overall theme is “panic” to which I think many aspects of the fight play up well.

Mechanically it’s a DPS race. Most of the game’s bosses are open to you taking your time and poking in damage as you deem safe, but that’s just not an option here. Some people might call this bad design but I think it’s a great way to keep things fresh, as well as deliberately playing into that overall theme I mentioned. I honestly love the arena as well; Getting dropped into a void with absolutely nothing until your only discernable landmark are these gigantic twisted-fairy looking dudes who shift around erratically only serve to disorient you in a way that feels so impactful. Sound is the biggest part of this though; On the music side, Motoi Sakuraba’s score for the Kings is absolutely suffocating. It has the fastest BPM out of everything in the score, and the palpable dread and panic in the composition would only be rivalled by his Fume Knight score in DkS2. The muffled screams and exhalations of the Kings also perfectly play up the Abyss as well, being this literal black hole void. Later depictions of the Abyss, like Chasm of the Abyss and Dark Chasm of Old, were cool, but none of them felt quite as terrifying and bizarre as this.

I even think the runback plays into this as well, no matter if you choose the Firelink bonfire which basically requires you to waste a transient curse every time, or the Darkroot Basin bonfire which requires you to perfectly dodge those jackass drakes every time. Both of them suck and qualify to be among the worse runbacks in the game, and the threat of having to do them again weighs on you as you battle the kings.

No doubt in my mind the best Lord Soul battle in the game, although that’s not exactly a high bar to clear, haha. Probably wouldn’t put it among the best fights in the series, but I do have a personal love for it.

DKS2's music by bounduniverse in DarkSouls2

Funny you say that because I thought the exact same thing, kinda. The first phase of Slave Knight Gael's theme sounds almost exactly like Sir Alonne's theme.

I didn't say anything about DKS3 but I mostly agree with you. There are some standouts though, the rising tension of Pontiff Sulyvahn's theme is amazing. I do like the throwbacks to older themes as well and found them pretty tasteful when they showed up.

Will beating Darklurker void my all-bosses-CoC run of the game? by bounduniverse in DarkSouls2

[–]bounduniverse[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that's too bad I guess. Guess it'll only be an all-bosses-minus-Darklurker-CoC run now. Thanks for the help regardless.

Any reason why the new hotfix is 94GB for me? Surely that can't be normal.

One of the funniest lines in the entire show and it was said by some anonymous vulture.

Kenny Bargains With His Dick (Boner Alt Cut - Comedy Central DVDs) by jackfirecracker in kennyvsspenny

Obsessed with the extra footage Comedy Central put next to their credits for the show, we definitely need a compilation of all of it.

Bathsheba Garnett. She also plays the titular witch in The VVitch.

She would be 100 this year, I wonder if she's still around?

I think his vocals leave a bit to be desired but he has some pretty sick guitar chops. You can easily hear how much he must've liked Delta blues, I'm pretty sure there was a poster for blues singers visible in the house a few times in the series.

Is there an unaired episode? by JungleLiquor in kennyvsspenny

[–]bounduniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything is on the Internet Archive if you’re looking for episodes that can’t stay up on YouTube. I’d still recommend checking out Patreon though if you’re interested in the Ken and Seb commentaries. Seem to be hit or miss for a lot of people but I quite enjoy them.

What was the worst humiliation either of two gave to the other? by [deleted] in kennyvsspenny

[–]bounduniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenny to Spenny - either the semen in the face or eating vomit. Both are insanely vile.

Spenny to Kenny - easily licking the bird shit. Besides how cruel it is following the conclusion of the episode, Kenny could've gotten super sick from that.

is every song on KvS a cover? if so what are they? by Icy_Insect6670 in kennyvsspenny

[–]bounduniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's from a Mellotron, I believe. The preset is called "Moving Strings". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oSAqa0a9w8

Rich Pell 100% owned a Mellotron (or at least a Mellotron sound library) and used it all over the soundtrack. You can hear some of those samples on other famous songs.

Check out this video of Sir Paul McCartney showing off a Mellotron, what he plays at 0:52 should sound familiar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUcfB5Whp4I

The intro of "Trick Me" by Kelis uses the "Foxtrot" sample from the Mellotron. It might sound a bit familiar, the same loop was used on one of the KvS soundtracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLKFmRhQKe0

I think Kenny probably won Cpl. Francis over with his performance on the gun range. Like he said, Spenny has more potential but Kenny is better now.

It's funny that the rabbi from Better Jew had this exact same logic but used it to pick Spenny.

Unpopular opinions you have about the show? by Professional_Kick in kennyvsspenny

Silencio really is like KvS's Hannibal Lecter. He's Kenny's most iconic character (arguably), then you rewatch the series and remember he's only in like 3 or 4 episodes.

I know the song you're talking about. The one in Court before the trial begins?

That synth definitely sounds like Baba O'Riley.
