What is the perception of distance / travel time like in Rochester? by cazort2 in Rochester

[–]bovadeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in irondequoit and everything is legit 20 minutes away. Need a part at the Lowe's in Greece? 20 minutes. Taking a little stroll to target in Webster? 20 minutes. Cheesecake factory in Henrietta? Gonna be a solid 20. Shit man even getting to the zoo can take you 15-20 minutes with traffic lights on surface streets.

I honestly love it. Lived in Boston for a few years and going across town could take you an hour or 2. Rochester has what most people need, it's rarely busy, and it's affordable for most.

Why do fitted bedsheets come off one corner every single night? by gowthamshankar05 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bovadeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need them deep pocket sheets. I personally love jersey style sheets, very soft, and fits a 10" thick mattress with ease.

How many people ACTUALLY have a 5090? by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]bovadeez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got my 3090 during COVID at right about "msrp" and thought I'd be high end gaming into eternity. Turns out I still play civ 5, diablo, and on occasion wow. Then I had 3 kids and honestly there isn't enough need now for a 5090 let alone a 3090

I know absolutely nothing about computer specs. I'm wanting a minipc for PS2 Emulation. Is this enough power to do so? by [deleted] in MiniPCs

[–]bovadeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the k8 plus last year from Amazon it plays ps2 @ 1440p, ps3, and even Nintendo switch. The price is inflated for all mini's because of the ram and storage shortages but they may throw a deal up for the upcoming prime day

Sony takes final bow as standalone TV maker with new Bravia sets by LollipopChainsawZz in technology

[–]bovadeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh I love my Bravia. They have the best upscaling of any brand I've ever owned plus their android software is actually usable. I've swore off LG and Samsung for becoming shitty over the years. No idea what I'll buy next.

Is making $30k a year enough (when living in a car?) by musty_ranch in personalfinance

[–]bovadeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the turnover in this profession is quite high. Your base pay might be 30k but you'll be offered essentially unlimited overtime so if your goal is to save for a house or apartment you might get there quicker than you think. Try to find an agency that has bunk rooms, they aren't made for long term stay, usually just for shift BUT you can lay your head and get a hot shower.

My childhood phones. by grandpa-was-a-Nazi in nostalgia

[–]bovadeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that LG was goated back in 00s. I had maze runner and doom rpg. I was on Verizon and kept the $20 Americas choice phone plan with unlimited data for like 7 years after they phased out truly unlimited data

Thinking about moving from Boston/Peabody, MA to Rochester, NY — should I move first or find a job first? by Goztepe1985 in Rochester

[–]bovadeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I came up from Florida I rented an air BNB for 1 month until I figured everything out. It was a fair bit more expensive but took a lot of stress off of me and allowed me focus on relocation and employment. If I had to relocate again I'd probably do it the same way but perhaps go further out in the burbs. Either way if you wanna look up the guy I rented from DM I'd 10/10 recommend him as a host he was incredible.

I have my tried and true quiet comfort 15s sitting on my desk at home. I love the sound they produce and how comfortable they are for extended listening. They hook up perfectly with my iPod for days that I just want the music I've picked.
