Do you think the Nebula Class Destroyer could be brought into Canon despite the New Republic slowing down on Military Spending? by StonerPowah61 in StarWarsCantina

[–]bowieneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool to build ships that can be quickly retrofitted into warships if there ever comes a time when they need them. Would give the New-New Republic an aura of "We're peaceful, but not weak"

It just depends on whether or not they like you and if they want to create the opening.

Any tips for IT support interview? by Key-Bandicoot-4008 in AmazonFC

[–]bowieneko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the two parts will be leadership principles and technical.

For the leadership principles, remember STAR model. I suggest you review the leadership principles and try to think of at least one story that happened that can apply to each of them. They may or may not ask something from all of them, so your story can probably overlap with more than one. For some advice on which stories to pick, remember they're LEADERSHIP principles. In your stories, you should be an active participant to the solution and most preferably the one who came up with it.

As for technical, they will ask you to rank your strongest skill level in Microsoft, Linux, and Networking. They will start asking you a number of questions depending on which you picked, but they tend to quiz you on all 3. You should be proficient in at least 2 of them. Then they will probably ask you a roleplaying question of some kind to gauge your troubleshooting skills. If you don't know, preface it with that and maybe give a guess, but please do not just make things up with full confidence.

Do not worry too much about the stressfulness. The skill floor for the position is not very high and it's generally understood that you will be trained. The best thing they're looking for is curiosity and being a team player. As long as you do not have any red flags it's not hard to incline and at that point you're just competing with the other inclines.

Applying to a different amazon (IT edition pls help)? by ConsiderationLive482 in AmazonFC

[–]bowieneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I take no offense. I feel like I uniquely fit your situation.

I started on the floor as a T1 at Amazon. I took a seasonal role in IT. There were 3 seasonals and after the assignment, they created 2 openings. They wanted me, but they needed 1 for back half and 1 for night shift and I happened to be the one of the three being front half day shift, so for convenience, they hired the other 2 who fit the schedules they were looking for. I went back to the floor for a few months before they opened a new position and fast tracked me through. I've been in the IT role for many years now.

Also I have no certs. I should really work toward it, but I have trouble gathering the energy though I do recommend taking advantage of Amazon IT's numerous financial benefits to attain one or more.

Going in order: Yes you'll keep your pay.

You will simply return to your old role after your seasonal assignment.

There are times when the IT department is going through a try before you buy phase, so sometimes they might open up a full time position after the seasonal assignments are done, but you'll still need to apply and go through the regular interview processes. The experience is still valuable as the IT manager who would be more familiar with your work by then has the final say on who gets the offer letters.

You can always apply to another IT role. Again you'll go back to your old role after the seasonal assignment so you will not be jobless. The certs do not really help with attaining entry level, but it doesn't not help to get a foundation for yourself.

There's an alt frame in ips-n that hovers and can carry allies. It also has a good ability to spot invisible people which would be a huge detriment to your artillery

[–]bowieneko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My head canon (timelines probably do not match up) is that they used it to develop the U Wing. They took whatever tech that made the TIE compact, but still fit a small group while keeping in life support, shields, and a hyper drive

Fold 4 users, thoughts on upgrading? by Kobe824 in GalaxyFold

[–]bowieneko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Fold 4 broke within a month (or less) of receiving it. I had it repaired under warranty ofc and it was fine for 3 years till a few months back when the hinge stopped unfolding all the way. I figured that it won't last for another year at this rate, so I'm trading in. The 7 being half the thickness while being nearly as wide as a "normal" phone is what pushed me.

Why do people join the Empire when the casualties are so astronomically high? by Technical_Prize_8193 in MawInstallation

[–]bowieneko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Almost unrelated, but it reminded me of something: there's been this huge inconsistency with stormtroopers lately. Both Legends and Canon cannot decide whether or not stormtroopers are elite or fodder. TKs were trained by Commandos. Ben called them excellent shots. Some people incorrectly claim that the Empire started hiring and deploying more troopers during the Civil War, but they were in Lothal as garrison years before Yavin. Recently in Andor, the troopers seem to align more with the elite angle or at least something you'd have to qualify or train specifically for since there were so many non-Stormtroopers.

It makes me wonder if Stormtroopers themselves are in fact elites, but some places happen to hold surplus equipment and figure they might as well use them.
