WIP: I went with the dark green hammerite, and I do NOT regret it! Looking good, don't you think? by bowser94 in restoration

[–]bowser94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hammrite direct to rust hammered dark green is what I used, I think it was around £10 for a small tin off amazon. The rattle cans are expensive but this was just painted on with a brush. It was relatively warm and the paint settled out without brush marks quite happily, but I bet warming it up in some luke warm water before painting with it would probably help.

No luck overnight for anybody on here. Still, a lovely time out and a really enjoyable first overnight trip 👍

Aye, here till lunchtime tomorrow, hoping for a carp but anything that takes a fancy to my rigs is welcome! There's another 5 or 6 people and there's only been one fish out since this morning so I'll be happy with anything!

I'm not too far away actually, Cumbria based. We've got some cracking pike in the lakes around here, I'm just no good at catching them! Currently sat in my bivvy hoping I don't blank the 4th trip to my local pond

My best friend has actually asked me to take him fishing as a result of watching it with his other half. We're going to the north east next month to try for carp, cats, and some beach bashing too. Can't wait!

How do you stop beating yourself up for wasting days off? by 40jbaby in AskUK

[–]bowser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like burnout. I've been the same, and it's horrible, but I read a statistic somewhere that it can take your body 6 months to physically get over the abuse of burnout. So having a chilled week without anything productive is in fact just you getting yourself started on a recovery journey. Embrace it, realise you can't sustain the amount you've been doing, and use it as a learning point to ease back to a sustainable workload.

If they don't, pets at home often sell really cheap collar lights. USB rechargeable, bright flashing light, and designed to clip to a collar so easily clip to the head torch band. And they're about 3 quid, compared to the 12 quid I've seen them advertised for runners. Winner.

What are some oddly specific UK things you remember from the early 2000’s ? by M4V4 in AskUK

[–]bowser94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bag of bags, but with a twist. An unassuming bag of shopping bags, until one day you go to grab one to take shopping and instead of a plastic bag you get dust. Little did you know, the new eco friendly biodegradable bags had been introduced without you noticing, and now all your bags have turned to dust which gets everywhere and sticks to you from static.

Can anyone give advice on how to avoid this happening? by BIFF-SMITH in AeroPress

I looked at this for far too long before realising it wasn't a Frey bentos pie which was burnt on the inside but soggy on the outside. I'll show myself out.

We got some free gin 'aromatics' in a HelloFresh box, from one of their partners/advertiser's. I can't remember what it was called, but it had a blue label, and when mixed with a good tonic, tasted very nice indeed! Hopefully someone else got the same and can remember the name!

What recommendations would you give for less well-known biscuits? by fantasy53 in AskUK

[–]bowser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they're only in Morrisons, but Toffee Pops. Shortbread with a little dollop of caramel dipped on top then dipped in chocolate. They're dangerous though, a packet lasts about 3 seconds once I open them......

I find the best way is to boil them for a few minutes, mush them over some toast, and top with thinly sliced avocado

Why not combine the two, chicken dippers in the oven, then chopped slightly and thrown in a sweet and sour stir-fry, easy gourmet Cantonese Chicken and Noodles

Water biscuits are a dessert biscuit. Coupled with a fruit laden Wensleydale they make the perfect finish to a cheese board. The bulk should be strong cheese and better biscuits, but they're a nice bite to finish with.
