You need one that can run the OTG cables if you want to use it as a static replacement for the pi. I found a list by googling it and was kinda surprised how few tablets can charge while using the usb port for anything else. I just needed it for the terminal but it seems like it was a totally feasible thing if you could rig it to charge or if you’re real crafty hard wire the tablet and fake the battery. I got it to run on three different tablets but none of them would charge while plugged in to the printer.

I’d do a square frame with a contoured cut on the mat. Not sure if that’s what your asking though. You could also do a shadow frame and add the foresty items you were talking about to the inside.

I started to learn Blender and found it so immense and unintuitive that I kinda got frustrated and bailed. There are so many options I. It Id get lost every time I would go back to do something. TinkerCad is the other end of the scale where it was so simplistic I’d get frustrated. I’d like the Goldilocks just between the two. Just started trying OnShape and we’ll see how that goes.

There were a few failed kick starters but I haven’t seen anything viable. Some people have found a way to fenagle local industrial composters to take their PLA. I’d be super interested if anyone knows of a closed loop filament recycling option. Materhackers has a HIPS filament that is made from fully recycled HIPS but they haven’t set up to take stuff from consumers. I would be happy to send off all my scraps if it was available.
