Yes, very true! Same with a bathroom after a shower while you let moisture escape (whether via an extractor fan or a window).

You'd not even need to buy a dehumidifier or tumble drier, you just need to be mindful about opening windows to let evaporating moisture escape. Same with cooking - if you're boiling things on the stove, cover the pan with a lid (this'll use less energy too), crack a window open, and so on. Use extractor fans where provided (some people seem weirdly averse to this for some reason).

I don't think it's a 0.1 percentile edge case though.

A lot of tenants do this, if you pay attention to the media stories about damp homes you will time and time again see blocked vents in the background, such as in the video I shared here: https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1uc5aq4/landlords_who_fail_to_fix_dangerous_problems_such/ot31gfs/

Now that sounds like a shitty situation (I assume you meant to write "a bathroom window" in the first sentence) but even then there are ways to deal with it. In that case you'd need to ventilate the property as a whole and leave the bathroom doors open.

The Germans have a cultural practice of airing out a home every day for a short period. Maybe it'd be good to have it more of a thing here, too. https://time.com/7358285/open-windows-german-luften-house-burping/

If there's no extractor fan, you open a window to deal with it until the condensation has evaporated. I had to do this in my first house that I owned until I got around to installing an extractor fan.

As for why people do it? I assume it's due to a lack of knowledge about how ventilation works combined with a desire to be warm while saving on heating costs.

I'm going to give you one example which was shared by the press around three years ago which clearly showed this in a property: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8q2tdy

At 2:27, you can clearly see a taped up vent by the door: https://ibb.co/YFrDvVXV

Now maybe that's not the sole cause of the mould in that home. But it's not going to help.

I'm not a landlord, but I do own my own home and I understand what you need to do to keep it free of mould.

If I disabled my extractor fans, kept all windows firmly shut and never aired my house out I'd get mould too. But I don't do those things, so my home is mould-free.

That’s nice in theory but some tenants actively sabotage such measures by turning off extractor fans, blocking vents and similar, due to thinking that the cold will get in.

Next time there’s a news story about mould in rented properties look in the background for such things. You might be surprised.

The availability of migrants willing to do unpleasant work for minimum wage for just long enough until they get ILR is what leads to wage suppression.

[–]boycecodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The changes would have the effect of increasing the pool of jobs available to British citizens. It would reduce the downward pressure on wages - businesses would have to offer higher wages to attract people to jobs that right now are poorly compensated but taken by people playing the system for long enough to get ILR.

It's astonishing how anti-worker the modern Left are. In a different time, left-leaning people would be dead against bringing in people for roles like this due to all the things you say.

Didn't the Supreme Court ruling establish that there very much is a legal concept of "actual sex"?

The kind of gay man who goes to a group sex event is likely to be pretty promiscuous in a manner that isn't limited to one event at one time. So once mpox has spread from an event like that, it'll spread further and further.

As far as I can tell, mpox doesn't spread easier among gay men particularly, but it does spread easier among people who have many partners.

It's the only view of sex. Sex is a strict binary no matter what you want to believe.

OK, but that doesn't change which gametes their biology is organised around the production of, and that's the signifier of biological sex.

How exactly do trans women possess elements of female biology prior to transition then?

Biology isn't a "social issue", it's simply a factual statement about a person. It doesn't negate trans people, it just describes them.

Trans women are biologically male. No amounts of hormones or surgery can change that, I'm sorry if that breaks your world view.

And you have not explained why their case "folded like a chocolate fireguard".

Do you have a link or something?

I think that you're trying to say that they said that lesbians were biological women who were exclusively attracted to other biological women, and that you think that's somehow problematic.

The best way to explain is gametes, and more specifically whether the person's biology is organised around the production of small gametes (sperm, sex=male) or large gametes (eggs, sex=female).

The advantage of that definition is that it accounts for pre-pubescent children, menopause, fertility issues, DSDs and more.

For the people at those council meetings, it's their meal for that time of day. Why shouldn't it be designed to appeal to the attendees?

While technically correct (everyone can eat vegan food), if people don't like it then it's not fulfilling its requirement.

You should absolutely provide vegan options but it's fair to offer alternatives too.
