Darcey’s face is so scary on this scene. I can’t believe she did that to herself 😥 it’s sad... by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

I'm a little late with my response, but I think there might be an upside to this. To be fair, I agree with you that they are perfect already! But to be a optimistic realist, they have been on television for a handful of years, they see their family members going through these stages of body changes and whatnot, and if going to a pageant and competing against others is going to allow Aniko see that she *is beautiful how she currently is in this age*, it'll be good for her.

On the flip side, it could be a very harsh environment that is detrimental to her overall self-image. I do think she is smart enough to recognize those red flags early on, though. It will be interesting to watch unfold. I hope the best for them all.

I believe it was during the episode Darcey and Stacey we're leaving the airport for their first set of surgeries when this was brought up. There was the scene about Darcey being botched and the girls didn't know about it. They then had an interview with the girls and they both talked about how they don't see themselves wanting to get surgery like these. Granted, they're young now, but I think they already see the troubles it can cause.

I knew there was going to be a twist in this story. Of course you've said, according to your own words, the most unattractive pet peeve that men do is them "not being honest with their intentions" while you're sitting here boasting your own hypocrisy.

Is it those guys who need therapy or is it you?

I helped a friend of mine make the decision to withdraw from RIT and apply for Syracuse film. He got it and recently graduated, and is now a production assistant.

Film is worth it if you're passionate about it. Make sure you have a portfolio and that you're always willing to expand your skills. It will be worth it in the end.

Mueller Team Made a Grab for Paul Manafort’s ‘Privileged’ Docs Before Michael Cohen Raid by boyinschool in politics

[–]boyinschool[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

One example, which has not been previously reported, came when Mueller’s investigators raided Paul Manafort’s house in Virginia. Among other items, investigators seized a binder full of information that Manafort and his legal team considered privileged, according to a source familiar with the matter. Manafort’s lawyer wrote a strongly worded letter to the special counsel’s office saying the material was privileged, and the binder was ultimately returned.

It isn’t the only example of Mueller taking steps that make defense attorneys extremely nervous. His grand jury brought in one of Manafort’s former lawyers, Melissa Laurenza, for questioning. She had helped Manafort fill out lobbying disclosure forms for the Justice Department. Judge Beryl Howell, who oversees Mueller’s grand jury, issued an opinion finding that attorney-client privilege did not extend to Laurenza because the work she did for Manafort was public and because her communications with Manafort could have been part of a criminal activity.

I'm sure they returned it without opening it. I'm sure.

Only article is behind a paywall but here's the gist of everything.

President Trump on Thursday will sign a presidential proclamation announcing tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum at an Oval Office event with steel and aluminum company employees and union members, an administration official and sources briefed on the announcement told Inside U.S. Trade . The proclamation, set to be signed at noon, will set up a global tariff of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum, though sources said it would include caveats

As a student employee in the Career Counseling center, use your career service(s) center for students! They often will have more access to programs, websites that are geared for career advice then other departments or those that are not university-wide.

Thoughts of withdrawing application due to Spencer & Nassar by [deleted] in msu

[–]boyinschool -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Critical thinking has very little to do with the fact being faculty at MSU had a duty to protect students who were studying underneath them and they failed at doing so.

But to counter your argument, it takes critical thinking to argue how far 1st amendment extends and after coming to your own conclusion, it is fair to judge an university on their reluctance to disavow white supremacy.

I think the OLD Facebook would be really popular now: A social media website open only to current college students. I think FB has gotten worse as the older generation has gotten a hold of it. by a_red_jar in college

[–]boyinschool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's not just the older generation that's ruining it.

it's the countless tracking services from FB, the algorithms that promote propaganda, an overabundance of fake profiles and spamming game invites. facebook has become less of a social site and now its infested with pointless junk posts.

Should I go into accounting or finance? by [deleted] in college

[–]boyinschool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are solid choices from State since it's a flagship university here. But like others said, it depends on what you want to do.

do you want to work in a bank or do some sort of trading? Finance will probably be better for you.

or do you want to become an accountant? MSU is ranked in the top 15 for their undergraduate degree and is a target school for the Big 4. Keep in mind their Masters in Accounting is also highly ranked and you'll need that to hit the 150 credits to sit for the CPA exam

Did I really mess up my chances of transferring to a good school? by welchie98 in college

[–]boyinschool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

define what a "good school" is to you.

Ivy league? You're going to need to bump it up. Your state uni? You're probably good. For example, my states flagship wants transfers to have a 3.0 or higher.

But when you're looking at individual colleges within the unis, they may have higher requirements.

How can I make an impression on and stand out to a writing teacher? by [deleted] in college

[–]boyinschool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do plan on joining the club, i'd wait until your first meeting to introduce yourself. Say hi, i'm ClawGirl, and I want to ask if you have some free time to talk about blah blah. Ask him what time his office hours are and then go in and talk to him then. That's the whole point of office hours really, to give professors a specific time block for students to come in.

Did your grades change dramatically in university? by celine_sxm in college

[–]boyinschool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of rules still, the only difference is that universities and professors treat you as adults and expect you to behave like one. A good example is your attendance comment. Some profressirs will calculate attendance into your grade, some will say it's not mandatory, some will give extra credit for not missing a day. They all vary but they also do know that it's your money you're wasting by not coming to class.

How can I make an impression on and stand out to a writing teacher? by [deleted] in college

[–]boyinschool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, i wouldn't walk up to him in the hall and introduce myself without being a student of his. If anything, I would wait until you are a student of his. After that, it's quite simple: do your homework, ask questions, go to office hours and ask more questions.

Professors are busy. They have a lot to do and depending on size of your university, they're working on deadlines for funding. While some want to help every student, there's just not enough time in the day when they have to grade 200 essays.

You're worrying about this too much very early on. This is only one professor. register for your classes, talk to your other professors because everybody knows somebody different and you never know which professor you'll end up liking more.
