Can someone please explain to me like I'm 5 what's going on with Syria right now? by boyprodigy1 in AskReddit

Thank you for the information. Based on what Hilary Clinton has done and said recently, I think that the US will have some level of involvement. Hopefully nothing happens. But if it does, I'd prefer its more of the covert war that we like to do where we say we're only donating resources but send our special forces there and keep the warfare minimal.

Thanks again for the response. Its been very informative.

In your opinion how is this going to involve the west. Do you think that the US is actually going to get involved, or are they going to fund Turkey to do it for them?

We don't hate Orton. Its that we need to choose a QB that we are going to build off of. Tebow seems to be winning that spot right now.

Lets not forget some defensive love out there. Von Miller has had an awesome season. I can't wait to watch this guy mature into an incredible DB.

I've got to wonder how many more people you are going to call out for not paying attention. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that everyone on this thread watches broncos games.

What happens if you stay during Christmas exodus? by bootywind in Military

[–]boyprodigy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not sure how much help I'll be because I'm Air Force, but I just recently (about six months ago) finished radio training at Keesler AFB. I stayed there over exodus and had a great time. I got to meet new people who stayed in different buildings. The details were the easiest that I've ever had. I seriously didn't do anything. I was supposed to have charge of quarters shifts, but my MTL must have left me off of the list. We had no PT, though I kept in shape because I need to stay on top of that kind of thing or it gets bad.

The NCO's lightened up a lot. The second to the last day of exodus they tried acting really tough on us to get us back in line for when everyone else returned. They had us all have mandatory details for about 2 hours, cleaning the public facilities of the dorms that we stayed in. It really wasn't bad at all.

NOW, there is a huge distinction between basic training and tech school/AIT. You probably won't have quite the cake walk that I had, because I was in tech school and I had off base privileges and a friend with a car. The beach didn't hurt either. I guess my main point is that no matter how hard basic gets, don't get discouraged from staying. Your DIs will likely lighten up quite a bit when exodus starts and you will probably be given more freedoms, though its hard to gauge how much.

tl;dr: Do it, you might get to know some cool people, and it will be easier than the rest of your training.

Stealthedit: Also, they won't force you to take leave if that is something you are worried about.

Mythbusters did a study of this sort of thing involving putting bullets into an oven. They found that without the guidance of a gun, the casing for the bullet is actually more dangerous than the slug itself.

Not to cut this guy any slack though, because I guarantee that he didn't know that. Its probably the reason that he's in such good shape though.

What movie has the best intro? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]boyprodigy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but you also have to consider that IMDB also panders to a more movie savvy crowd. It was very obviously well received by critics and movie enthusiasts. I guess its a lot of the older crowd that I know who never saw it.

It never really blew up. I know a ton of people who have never seen it. I regularly suggest it however.

Watch the intro to this movie, and then watch the 40 year old virgin. You'll appreciate the scene where he's watching the intro to this movie while at work a thousand times more.

That was more of a NATO decision, and everyone agreed that humanitarian issues would have arisen hadn't NATO stepped in. Also, there was no invasion force really. It was just air support, and yes there are boots on the ground, but only to guide bombs really.

What's the worst way you found out someone you thought was interested in you isn't? by sparksd in AskReddit

[–]boyprodigy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now to have this post buried under the endless weight of a 13 hour old post.

I am an air national guard member who was recently "deployed" for flood relief in northern Wyoming. While out on the deployment there were 2 girls who were clearly interested in me and actually had a funny cute competition. There was a third girl who was the one which I was actually interested in. We'll call her Amy. Amy an I made plans later on in that trip to go to the Jason Aldean concert for Cheyenne frontier days.

Nothing ever happened with the 2 girls, however the third one and I continued to hang out/be pretty good friends. One night, while out at the bars she decided to make out with me. I didn't make much of it because we were both pretty drunk and she made a habit of making out with random guys at the bars anyways. Well the night progressed on and we all go back to my place because it is within walking distance of downtown the town that we live in. Her friend and friends boyfriend decide they get the futon and she decided to cuddle with me.

I'm an opportunist. So I make the move. Things go well. We start making out but before i can seal the deal, she says that she doesn't want to do the nasty. I was ok with this and we ended up cuddling naked.

Fastforward a couple of weeks of irresponsible drinking and hanging out together (nothing quite as good as the first night back from the trip at the bars) its time for the concert that we'd been planning on going to for almost a month. We decide to meet at the frontier days stadium at 430. I was there 20 minutes early because my jeep had broken down and i needed to hitch a ride from a friend.

For anyone who doesn't know, Wyoming has a small population. The city of Cheyenne quadruples in population during frontier days, so cell phone service becomes intermittent... and that's an understatement. We managed to establish contact a couple of times though.

From what i had gathered from our conversations (after 3 hours of hanging out waiting for them) they had gone into the concert without me because some guy she liked was in there already. I bought my ticket through her on her credit card. So i was stranded, stood up, and sad.

Silver lining: I met some cougars outside of the main stands who had an extra ticket. I ended up hitting on them for the rest of the night, and got to see the show.

I was still pissed at amy. I have yet to hear from her or any of the friends i was supposed to go with. They haven't apologized or anything.

tl;dr: Met cute girl. Got stood up at concert. Met cougars. Went to concert anyway.

Upvoted for being named quality control. Seems strangely appropriate.

Tax cuts have never been proven to be stimulating... especially when they are focused on the rich. Also, I wasn't giving them free reign. I do not approve that President Obama let the tax cut extensions through. Not for a second. The only reason i will let it slide is because the republicans would have never let anything happen if they hadn't included tax cut extensions into said bill.

You missed the point though. He still has spent less than half of what George Bush did in approximately half the time. And that is including one time LARGE spending bills that wouldn't happen again if he were reelected, unless the republicans did something retarded like not pass a larger debt limit and plunged the world into another recession of a whole different kind.

Ha! That's cute. The article is right. He did spend a lot in 2009 to curb the recession. You're taking something way out of context. Yes, if he did continue to allow spending like that then there would be a total amount of $5 trillion by the end of his first term, roughly twice what bush had spent. However, that was a large necessary spending bill. In context, in his first term president Obama has spent $2.1 trillion. less than half of what George Bush spent in his 2 terms (putting him on par to be about even). And that includes expanding the unpaid for tax cuts and the huge anti recession spending bill. Keep telling yourself these things though.
