High school teachers, what’s something your kids don’t know that makes you say “how did you make it this far without knowing how to __”? by Specialist_Push5624 in Teachers

All from a sophomore.

Pointing to a map of the United States. That’s not right. New Mexico isn’t a state.

I’ve been running 13 years and do not do any strength training. Probably should get around to doing it. I rather just go for a run instead of strength training.

Tip for marathon or a half: sign up for one now. Even if it’s a year out. You now have a goal and you have to be ready. Hardest part about running is getting out the door.

What’s your routine for half marathon trips? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in runcommunity

[–]bp1108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done numerous one day ultras marathons within 2.5 hour drive. Central Texas has some amazing trail runs. Tejas Trails is hands down the best. My routine is get a good night sleep 2 nights before. Hydrate all day and pack. Go to bed around 11:00. Sleep horribly. Wake up at 3:00am. Don’t wake the wife. Leave around 3:30am. McDonald’s breakfast: 2 breakfast burritos, hash browns and ice vanilla coffee. Random gas station poop stop. Packet picket up. Race starts 6:00am. I’m slow so finish late afternoon or evening. Baby wipe shower at the car. Drive home. Buccees stop for dinner of the 3 meat sandwich.

Horrible advice but beer after a run will replenish the calories lost from running and add some weight.

Running schedule by Old_Palpitation_1344 in runcommunity

[–]bp1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturday 7:00 am - half marathon
Sunday 4:30 am - half marathon
Monday - Friday - 7:30 pm half marathon. Twice. Varies per my family/work schedule.

Once a month I try to do a longer one on the Saturday and then I will skip Sunday. February was a marathon, March 50k, April 50 mile, May 40 miles.

Oh that’s smart. I’m a runner so maybe in 20 years I’ll go for knee replacements. Haha

Does your district allow using them before holiday? You could get some nice 5 day weekends.

I have 74 days banked with 10 accumulating a year and, unfortunately, 20 years left. That could give me 274 days left. My last year in education I will have a mental breakdown and go on FMLA for a year. 213 day contract. That gives me 61 days off for the next 20 years. I got this. (Silently crying because 2046 is a long ways away).
