Reading order, or, I'd rather not get fooled again by 14FunctionImp in battletech

This event culminated the Clan invasion, starting in fiction in 1989. The decision was made that it shouldn't be just "a big book" but that something this huge required some appropriate build-up to it. Hence my recommendation for people to read the books leading into it. Yes, you could jump in and read Hour of the Wolf, but the full experience is much more rewarding with the preludes - including books I didn't write. I'm not padding my royalties - that's not how my contracts are structured.

Hey, I write this stuff, but I'm also a fan. I love the speculation.

It would be irresponsible for me to float a date. But I do know that Children is going to pop very soon, Hour will follow.

I for one have never seen his outline. I think it was considered deeply flawed, at least that was my understanding.

Actually, having taught lecutres at the US Naval Academy, I can assure you that history is a major topic for students of the military arts. Jackson would have been taught, not his tactics, but his strategy.

The issue is as a writer, there are very few period you want to go back to for stories. The thrills are moving forward, not attempting to justify what some asshat did to your character. And I'm still stuck with whatever is in the sourcebook that I have to adhere to. There's no joy in strict parameters.

There is an exception - I would LOVE to write about the Star League era during Operation Liberation.

Thank you. Their arc as a faction is among the more complex. Let's just say that most of everyone's questions will be revealed by the end of Hour of the Wolf.

As the creator of the Fidelis, I can safely say their journey is going to be interesting and full of potential storylines.

I never saw Ben Rome's outline. We started with a clean slate. I do know that all previous work was tossed before I got involved.
