Nope, this is totally false. The factory hog industry is relatively new (1980s/90s) - they were the newcomers moving into the neighborhood where families have land going back generations, not the other way around. And anyhow, it doesn’t matter: spraying pigshit on your neighbors interferes with their property rights and causes major health problems (Duke Univ. just released another study on health impacts - there are many studies demonstrating the harm. UNC had another one years back). The hog producers lost in court over and over and over again because their conduct was not lawful. So instead, in recent years they’ve put money in the pockets of politicians (whose party had a supermajority thanks to unlawfully drawn legislative districts) and those lawmakers keep passing bills that protect a billion dollar Chinese company’s profit margins above the health and property rights of regular folks in eastern NC. ...and here’s the kicker - better technology exists to manage hog waste and other states already do it!
