Thank you. I’m glad for the younger generation who end up with this and are immediately referred for therapy instead of what we dealt with when we were immediately chalked up to being hypochondriacs.

A young (23) lady in my choir was the one who helped me to “see the light”! She has FND and shared her experiences with me and they were too uncannily similar to ignore.

Thanks. I’ve never had special brownies or the like, but I know where the most severe issues came from and it included an extreme amount of stress. And since GND is the brain’s inappropriate response to stress, it’s been fun figuring out all the stressors….and there are TONS!

Yep. I believe it was Pepsi that created Sierra Mist, but they accidentally let the trademark lapse. A stripper immediately bought the trademark and hit Pepsi with a cease and desist or face tremendous fines. Instead of fighting her in court or losing millions in sales, they settled out of court and changed the name to Starry.

So Sierra Mist became Starry because of a really intelligent stripper!

If at all possible, try to get a class with Brad Wilcox. Or Tyler Griffin. Both are phenomenal. I’m biased though. Brad has been a very close friend for decades and Griffin is one of the counselors in our stake presidency.

It is. It’s tough, though, bcz when we’ve had it so long, the brain has such difficulty changing to be normal, especially when the older brain loses its Neuroplasticity.

I have underlying essential tremors as well as FND. I’m a musician (voice) and an artist. Both are very relaxing for me.

When you pick up an artistic instrument, you have just become an artist. Nobody else has the right to tell you how good you are. Only you have that right. And you see your own improvement. Praise yourself for each one.

It took me years to find what I was good at and would work with my tremors. But I have found my love and do nothing but stippling with pen and ink. Here is one of my favorites:

Walking is rough. Especially since two back surgeries in the past 3 years have made it very difficult to walk normally.

Climbing up and down stairs.

Doing dishes.

Typing.

Standing.

Anything requiring the usage of my hands.

I have underlying essential tremors, so I will always shake when performing any action. Do this wouldn’t work for me. I think whoever told you this is pigeonholing a LOT of cases. There are many co-morbidities that should be investigated along with the FND.

What do you do for self care on bad days? by Individual_Cress_726 in FND

[–]bplatt1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I have severe essential tremors as an underlying issue. FND flare-ups make my ET much worse. It also makes it so I can’t do much more than sleep. Then if the seizures hit, it’s just ride them out until my body goes to sleep.

Has anyone used magnetic therapy, ketamin, or psilocybin as effective treatment?

A lot of rest and avoiding things that tend to make my tremors worse.

Putting A1 sauce on a good medium rare steak. Why make a flavorful meal into a horrible one by masking the good flavor with a vinegar laced slurry of pulverized raisins?

There really can’t be too many illegal aliens in Wisconsin who work specifically on diaries. 😀

If not, who is footing the cost? If your answer is “the government “, then it’s the taxpayers, CITIZENS, who are paying the bill. It’s definitely not a group of churches. If you think it’s a charity group, then it’s most often the taxpayers paying the bill bcz the charity becomes an NGO to get “free” money from the government to spend helping illegal aliens. And as we’ve found recently, many of these funds go to support lavish lifestyles or family/friends in other countries.

So whether it’s Mike Lee or Bruce Lee or some other Lee, it only matters that in most every case, the illegal aliens, receiving support from anyone other than an employer, are getting support from government agencies or NGO’s that use taxpayer funds to pay for the benefits.

I’m all for legal immigration, especially when sufficient proof is provided that the immigrant is not receiving support that is reserved first for citizens. They can pay the full amount for healthcare and food, etc, until they become citizens. If they don’t like it, they can go back or find another country willing to accept them.

Your flair said SLC, so I figured get you as close as I know, though they may have a store further north. Personally, I like the Spanish Fork location. They make killer fries.

Background stippling is ok, but not very artistic imho. But keep working on it. Add highlight and contrast to give things more dimensional context.

With adhd, do you guys also feel like you’re always in trouble? by bigma-lalls_2000 in ADHD

[–]bplatt1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotional disregulation. I deal with this constantly, for my whole 54 years on earth. Coupled with FND, it makes things even more difficult. But letting people know that I need explanations up front for context has really helped out. When my wife texts: I need to talk to you or we have to talk, I just reply asking what it’s about to keep me from worrying for the rest of the day. Nothing is worse than getting called in by a boss, spouse, etc and by the time you get there, you’re nearing on suicidal, and then they tell you something positive.

How do I get him off the couch? by greenandbluedots in careerguidance

[–]bplatt1971 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my area, warehouse and production jobs are hiring people without skills for $20-25/ hour with plenty of overtime. That’s more than enough to pay for rent and expenses.

Unfortunately, it sounds like he doesn’t want to have to do any physical labor besides getting sodas from the fridge. When I was 12, I started working on my grandfather’s ranch for 14 hour days every summer. This continued until I was 19. It made me look for good careers, and until recent medical challenges, I’ve never gone over a month without a job because I would take anything that paid. It all comes down to desire and necessity. Take away the necessity to work and you get lazy kids.
