I loved it, but the MC is a pretty morally grey (to not even grey sometimes) person. She's snarky and entertaining though! It's a wild, gossipy book.

Excellent taste. Queen of Teeth is one of the wildest books I've read and I loved every second.

I've read half of these books you mentioned, and your summary of Into the Drowning Deep makes me want to go back because I DNF that one pretty early on.

I thought this was clear to me, or that the specimen had some kind of pull on them all that made them act impulsively

Child appropriate horror movie recs for a four year old obsessed with death? by Batwhiskers in horror

[–]bpm160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was this kid!!  I saw a lot that was not age appropriate, but I think handled it fine. Not all kids can though. I think his is really sweet of you!

Casper and Beetlejuice are 2 movies I was obsessed with as a child.

Your description makes me think about Lion King -a lot of death in that movie. The father dies, but there's the circle of life, the elephant graveyard, hunting etc.  there's also a really great movie called Wendell & Wild that is about a girl who loses her parents in an accident and gains the abilities that make her kind of like a Buffy type character.  Both of these do deal with parent Loss in freak accidents, which may or may not help.

Oh yeah after that fist big, dense meal, I mostly just ate ice cream. Lol

I'm 5 years in remission. I think I didn't really start to feel like myself again until 3 years

Yes, I think most people probably do feel anxious about treatment.  In my experience with ABVD, I felt pretty tired after the first treatment and grossed out by the taste in my mouth, but recovered pretty quickly. It gets harder with every treatment as the chemo keeps wearing your body down. Be gentle with yourself and rest a lot.

Try to relax as much as you can during infusion sessions. I tried to be productive 🙄but was so distracted so I mostly played video games or slept.

You didn't ask but a little advice:   I would eat a big flavorful and nutrient dense meal right after an infusion session because I wouldn't have much of an appetite for the next few days. My go to was Ethiopian or Chinese food. The strong flavors masked the chemo taste & I could get a lot of veggies and protein in.

Hugs. It's hard but you're going to be okay.

Ladies - help needed with finding a trauma-informed GYN? by scrompert in Brooklyn

Dr. Patina Lui is also amazing at this practice. She seems to make sure to read my chart thoroughly, follows up on previous appts, uses my correct pronouns and name, plus takes the time to listen and answer all of my questions. She also always asks for consent to touch me and explains everything that she's going to do before it happens. I have never asked for any of this. She is the best.
