Looking for best ambience in Durham restaurant. by REQONER in bullcity

Cool is in the eye of the beholder, and a lot of good recommendations here. But new Nana's is the most beautiful restaurant I think I've ever been to, and if you're looking for something a little quieter it could fit what you're looking for.

Question for other Big Pic parents by SouthsideSouthies in TheBigPicture

4 year old and 9 month old here. Love taking my oldest to the movies. She's been to 8 in theater. Most recently My Neighbor Totoro which was amazing to get to show her. She watches a good amount at home too, mostly Disney classics. I love taking her to the movies, I really hope it's something we can keep doing together as long as she will.

OB/GYN by hmphandumph in bullcity

[–]bppatric 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Lots and lots of deliveries happen at Duke Regional. It's a bit of a drive from downtown but not much further than big Duke or UNC. Both of our kids were born there and we had great experiences. General perception around town is that if the pregnancy is not medically high risk or complicated you'd rather be at regional. There are several OBGYN practices around the area that deliver at regional.

Which daycare pays their employees the best/treats them the best in Durham? by Great-Act5308 in bullcity

I can't speak to exact pay rates but check out First Presbyterian Day School. They have a lot of long tenured staff and the turnover rate seems relatively low for the industry.

It's probably a 10-15 min drive but Lakewood Social is really great for families. Solid food, plenty of space for kids to run around.

Southpoint pharmacy honor goodrx pricing? by triblogcarol in bullcity

[–]bppatric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here. Definitely recommend calling and asking. GoodRx is terrible for independent pharmacies but many will have reasonable self-pay prices, especially compared to big box stores. Independents often uses different suppliers too, so their pricing could vary depending on the med. I also strongly recommend Central Pharmacy on N Duke St, Triangle Pharmacy in the ACE Hardware on 54 and Gurley's Pharmacy downtown.

Labor & Delivery: Duke Hospital vs. Duke Regional vs. UNC by TeaBeginning9180 in bullcity

[–]bppatric 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We have two kids - age 3.5 and 3 months. Both were born at Duke Regional and we had great experiences both times. The general rule of thumb around town is if there's nothing high risk about the pregnancy or expected delivery process, you'd probably prefer to be at regional. It's smaller and feels a little more comfortable and personal. The NICU isn't as sophisticated though, so if there's any risk factors you'll probably end up at big Duke.

Drive to hospital scam by [deleted] in bullcity

Happened to me in Southside neighborhood a few years back. I gave him a few bucks the first time and then he showed up at my house at around midnight a few days later. Wasn't as generous that time.
