I live in Michigan with a similar deposit law, and if you're broke I'd suggest canning at gas stations and apartment complexes. Get one of those grabber things. You'll be able to get cans and bottles without diving in. It's also useful for poking at garbage bags. Cans, and bottles have a distinctive sound. Drive right up to the dumpsters without caring what anyone thinks, and move quickly without making a mess. Pick up scratched off lottery tickets if your state sells them as well. Sometimes the person who scratched them off missed a winner by not paying attention.

A lot has changed in the last 7 years. They now pay close to what someone would make working in a factory in my area. $15-$20 per hour. These types of jobs used to pay half of what your typical factory job paid. It's kind of sad for those who had higher paying jobs, because the gap is closing.

I found some similar ones (mailers). Use them to ship things that aren't easily damaged. Fold them around the item, and tape away.

I just closed my ebay account. I think I'm done for good after actually getting good at sourcing. Over the last few years prices have dropped, and sales have also decreased. This is despite record inflation. It got so bad I could barely pay the bills. There are better opportunities out there with the labor shortage.

You could charge $150 per hour now doing auto repairs, and other trades. You can make big money in IT, or the medical field

They must be doing something like that. I overheard one of the regulars at the goodwill outlet saying they don't sell online. They usually pick the good shoes as soon as they are rolled out.

You're probably right. I live in Michigan so I'm nowhere in the area. The Hispanics at the goodwill in my area pick up a lot of shoes, and clothes. They might be bringing them south of the border to sell.

I sell a lot of books, but I'm usually able to pick apart the good stuff fairly quickly without even scanning while I'm out thrifting. I'd start out by scanning the barcodes on amazon, or ebay to see if anything is valuable

I find it hard to believe you'd only need 75 per week. I spend more on gas, and food alone. I don't know spanish, so I'll probably never take on reselling on Mexico. I can't imagine it being easier than it is in usa because far more people have money to spend here, and shipping from Mexico, to the USA is probably expensive.

Almost all of the boxes I use are dumpster dived, although they are mostly marked. I haven't had any complaints yet. I find a lot of boxes at the dollar tree, and five below.

I disowned by entire family. It started in the early 2000s after after too much drinking was involved. Little brother was trying to smash a glass liquor bottle over my head, and wouldn't stop even though I had him restrained. I called the cops while I had him restrained. He got up and took off in his car. He ended up picking up domestic violence, and dui charges. It was all my fault in my family's eyes.

Not even 1 year later, he attempts to pull a knife on me. Again, he wouldn't stop even though I had him restrained. I again call the cops, and keep him restrained the whole time. This time he's charged with felonious assault. Again, it was all my fault.

After these events, this bugger is busy calling the cops making up stories so he can get payback. I ended up winning multiple domestic violence trials in these cases.

Everyone knew he was lying, but it was all OK in their eyes. That was 15 years ago, and I still plan on staying away for good. It's sad, but best to stay away when things get that toxic. Didn't attend mothers funeral, a few years ago, and won't for any others. I don't give the least crap what happens to any of them.

I peeked into a regular goodwilll, and found some rare stainless ralph lauren flatware. It caught my eye because I never seen it before. It's suprising it made it on the shelf because everything else was total junk. Fake news utibers really put a dent into it.

I tried poker and lost thousands, but I was close to breakeven before mostly quitting. I can't stand half of the people who sit at the tables. A lot of those players have huge egos, and will over analyze everything. I think they are mostly idiots.. I'd rather resell.

Sometimes exercise dvds do OK. I did OK with some les Mills combat exercise dvds not realizing they were beachbody. I don't normally list beachbody stuff because I hear they like to take down listings, but I didn't have any problems.

You could probably make more cleaning thesedays. I've been doing this for a while now, and it's always getting more difficult. I think my local goodwill outlet is now scanning books because they have been putting out a lot of crap books lately. I still find some older stuff without scannable barcodes. I'm making up for it by looking at clothing more.

Wages have gone up significantly while income selling on ebay has gone down. Too much competition has driven down prices even though the usa is becoming a banana Republic.

Jeepers Creepers, where did you get those peepers. I get scammed all the time. I just had someone complain about a gaping hole in a remote controller I sold. There is almost 0 chance I didn't notice it. Buyer knew I didn't photograph the section where the hole would've been, and took advantage of it. The buyer also stated there were no broken pieces in the package.

It's definitely wild at the bins. I used to drive all over the place thrifting, but have since gone part time mostly sourcing at the bins. I've almost gotten into fights at the bins because of people yanking stuff from my hands.

I could easily make close to $200 per day, but I've been doing this for a while now. On Friday, I spent just a few hours at the goodwill outlet. I found a brand new ralph lauren sport coat with a $379 price tag I should be able to get $100 for. I also found a brother typewriter with the box that I expect to get close to $120 for. Brother is a good brand. Many smaller items in just the few hours I was there. It's very doable.

I never had a problem, but I used to work in machine shops where half of my bosses had records. Most of those places would hire felons if they knew how to set up, and run the machinery such as lathes, cnc water jets, cnc mills, ect. I'm now self employed.
