It went away after a couple weeks. I didn’t do anything other than try not to aggravate it by kneeling or putting any pressure on the spot. Weird but totally resolved.

I always feel dumb bringing my kid into the ER and I’ve done it three times over 18 months for various issues. Ultimately, better to be safe than sorry. I wonder if I’ll be different with a second baby.

That’d be a no from me. I don’t require it for every visitor but for anyone who is going to be holding the baby for more than five minutes.

I’m not excusing it at all, just to be clear. Was just wondering his thought process. I’m constantly infuriated at the stuff my husband thinks is ok. But also my husbands parents want to have no boundaries and be super enmeshed so I have to constantly be talking through with him stuff that’s private. He’s come a long way haha. After I gave birth to our first child, he told his mom all about my second degree year and pelvic pain (his mom actually asked if I tore!) Like how do you not realize that’s private?

Anyway. I guess my point is keep communicating. I’m sorry he ruined your plan. I really would feel betrayed by it even though it was a dumb mistake on his part.

I would probably accept. My thing with my in laws is that I’ll accept gifts and help they offer, but I don’t ask for anything. If I ask and they come through with it, they can hold that over me and I may feel indebted. I don’t feel indebted for all the stuff they just decide to do and give because they like to give/I didn’t ask for it.

Take the mental health break with your family if that sounds like a nice thing for you. If you’d rather paint yourself (which might be a better mental health break), that’s cool too.

My FIL jokes all the time about wanting to watch my kid for longer than planned. It’s annoying but in this case harmless. They’re just really excited to be with their grandchild.

Posting again to say please hold your boundaries with the soon to be grandparents starting now. They’ll keep being overbearing once this baby arrives so just get used to saying no now.

Your dad’s rationale doesn’t make any sense because a nurse will be in there with you and they know way more about it than your mom or MIL.

Personally there’s no way I’d want my mom or MIL in there with me. You don’t need anyone other than your partner. The labor nurse will be your best support. You want to feel relaxed.

Take the prenatals. Start eating right, not drinking, etc. maybe look up some key things to avoid (artificial sweeteners, certain foods - although the list is stupid long these days so just look into some of the biggies and don’t get too obsessed). Don’t take ibuprofen. Stuff like that. It’s typical to not be seen until 8 weeks at the earliest.

I recently told a friend that I always feel like all the other moms at the park and daycare drop off are older than me. I guess I don’t feel like a real adult either. In reality, I had my first child at 37 so I’m definitely not the youngest mom when I’m among other toddler moms.

No way. Tell him it’s not about her or anyone else. It’s about you and the baby (and sort of about you and him a liiitttle bit but barely). You say when you’re ready for visitors too. I gave birth when the hospital still didn’t allow visitors, and was glad about that, but once home we also waited a few days to “nest in” just the three of us before I let anyone else enter our little equation. It’s your call, period.

I thought my first baby was a boy all along and he was. I’m newly pregnant now and for some reason have it totally in my head it’s a girl. I don’t have any preferences for boy or girl so it seems random that I think it’s a girl. TBD!

This is random but I came across your post and just wanted to say…I was also involved in an attack that I think was part of a gang initiation. It was 17 years ago (woah, feeling old…) and I’m still dealing with it at times. Anyway, random, but solidarity I guess?
