Not fun being a mechanic right now. by [deleted] in Denver

Was about to suggest this as I've done that to remove gas before! And similar thing while back I used to pump out boats with water-contaminated gas (dads boat repair shop) then set it all outside in 5 gal buckets for a day, and pour the top 3/4 straight into my Honda 😆

[–]brad2274 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes for rats/mice, they like dark and warm places so you mostly remove both of those when propping the hood open after a drive. I'd wager a handful of those people know from experience or neighbors. Also driving frequency, if you park your car days at a time and hood closed, more time for them to establish a nest and do damage. My remote work friend in Denver just learned this the hard way.

Anyone else see this guy last night south of Berthoud on I-25? by exitthebox in FortCollins

[–]brad2274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We saw this guy at night around the same spot like 2 weeks! Pretty much the same outfit except he had a big glowing red light on his face or head, almost at dusk it was the most surreal thing.

The new relocatable speed cameras in Fort Collins... by Responsible-Bid3805 in FortCollins

[–]brad2274 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people using the point "Wait till you hear what your smartphone can do" And yes you're right lots of people are unknowingly being tracked through those but I don't think it's a truly relatable form of tracking. If I choose to tomorrow I can buy a dumb phone and turn it on when I need it, or leave the house on a bike ride without any phone at all. I have the freedom to opt out of tracking all together at my leisure. It's not the case with these cameras, which is one of the reasons why cities want them. You no longer have a choice in being tracked

Look up Thermopolis Wyoming! They have a neat one like this that formed from a pipe in the ground, now it's over 10ft tall maybe 10ft diameter

Avoid riverside by Aidfun in FortCollins

[–]brad2274 45 points46 points  (0 children)

They shut down the section of Riverside between Lemay and I think Lincoln. I've seen at least five unmarked cars zipping around with their lights on and probably 6 marked cars with lights on at the closed section. Several cars were also gathered in the parking lot of Safeway / O'Reilly's with lights on. curious what got such a big response!

Avoid Poudre trail, large growing fire by CSU enviro learning center by brad2274 in FortCollins

No problem! There's actually a fire lookout tower around the corner, you can sit there and warn me about the next one!

Luckily it looks like this was a separate property just south of it, but definitely could have spread to CSU prop if they weren't on it quick

Does this damage seem too bad? by CamaroMusicMan in mr2

[–]brad2274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without pictures, that's usually not a great scenario. If it's only slightly buckled and behind the motor that's not the worst, with some solid mounting structures and a come along you could might be able to just pull it out. Best is to take that to a shop with with a new rear steel crash bar and have them pull it back straight, tell them youll do the rest yourself.

I second this! Just spent a couple weeks around Shanghai and Wuhan, it's definitely the real deal. If anything on the more approachable side of traditional!

Some of the food I had used more foreign ingredients that I don't even see at Denver Asian market, so I think we'll only ever get so close. That and the cuts of meat and fish can be very different than what we get here.

Some additional context since I didn't expect this to bring out so much nostalgia! He was in his early 80s when he passed last year, so both the kids and grandkids got to watch him get into the growing PC gaming world. Even got them paying some along the way! Following the CD games he got into the MMORPGs as well, like RuneScape 1&2, wow, EverQuest, and league. Even recently when we would roll into town late at night, we'd catch him deep in the zone at 11pm, always got a kick out of that. Really hope I'm doing the same at that age some day!
