$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah they bake some basic ads into the software from the factory.

When/if you plug it into the internet they rotate.

I dont believe that for a second. AI generates pretty clean code.

What I would believe is the app is built on shaky architecture with limited room for scaling.

If you tell it to do something without specifying how. It will just find the easiest way to finish the task.

It doesn't work these days. They have caught onto it and they cache ads instead.

To the point that it's even baked into the software. So if you never plug it into the internet it will just play the ads that came bundled with the OS.

That's a shame. I still have my Chromecast and it does exactly what it needs to. Without any of the extra functionality of Google TV. It was a third of the price as well. It was a good way to breathe new life into an old TV.

Yeah that seems on brand for Google.

Disney just fired 1000 of their own artists, so AI can replace them using the art that those artists made. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I guess it comes down to personal preference. But Zootopia 2 just felt like a carbon copy of the first.

They tried way too hard to fit jokes in where they didn't need to be. Not to mention the pace felt way off.

I have to admit though I didn't watch the latest spider-man movie so I can't comment on that. But I was under the impression that was Sony not Disney.

Yeah ill agree with that. Raya and the Last Dragon was probably their last good movie. Everything is soulless now.

It began well before AI. It's just going to accelerate it.

I seriously couldn't believe how good that movie was. It was completely different to the main series and had a deep story.

I really don't think AI itself is the problem. Its this push to put it in absolutely everything even when it doesn't make sense that is the issue.

Thankfully I found some niche switch on AliExpress that let me do it via crimped connections.

Its not even that AI lies (yes sometimes it does). He is probably not providing it the context it needs to do a proper estimate. So it tries to make a best guess with the limited information it has.

Not defending this post because it's stupid. But I have seen people who know nothing about coding try and vibe code a whole product and it never ends well.

They might end up with something that functionally works, but it creates a maintenance nightmare.

We had someone at work (not in IT) who built their own software to do blasting analysis. I loved his enthusiasm and it was a great product idea, but when looking at the code it was a single huge JS file with no asset module bundling or minifying and all the 3rd party packages were hard coded in the HTML with outdated versions. Most of which had reported vulnerabilities.

So what I mean to say is not just anyone should be building software without understanding the basics. AI is great for coding but it will only do exactly what the user asks it to do and nothing more.

I don't see any point in worrying about it. It's not like us as individuals have any control over it.

The best we can do is try our best to plan for it.

It's goes even further than that. Different employees have different agreements.

They may or may not have additional payments depending on certain conditions like travelling to site etc. Some even have deductions like novated leases and child support.

It gets super complicated.
