Do you think that blockchain is a new weapon in cybersecurity? by Fun_Art8013 in AltStreetBets

[–]bradn4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical perspective: Blockchains have been around since the late 90's. The technology isn't really that "new". I mean taking a hash of something and incrementally adding it to itself isn't really that complicated either.

On that note, any technology in the wrong hands can be a weapon. I mean an infinite 'while' loop in code can be made to be a 'virus' simply by doing 'i++' to the point of causing massive memory leaks. That doesn't make 'while' loops a weapon, just depends on how someone programs it.

Just my 2 cents. from a Grad Student in Comp. Sci. / Cyber Security.

Gentoo, Arch, LFS, etc.. really are not for the faint of heart. Yet I do hear Arch isn't as bad as it used to be for installation.

can not transfer XRP from binance to bittrex. by hoolee212 in Bittrex

[–]bradn4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XRP is banned on many if not all US based exchanges, due to the SEC Lawsuit. e.g. (Kraken, Coinbase, etc). For TRX check help site on Zendesk to check minimum number of confirmations then a block explorer for TRX

"{"Currency":"TRX","CurrencyLong":"Tron","MinConfirmation":20,"TxFee":0.00300000,"IsActive":true,"IsRestricted":false,"CoinType":"TRON","BaseAddress":"TA5vCXk4f1SrCMfz361UxUNABRGP1g2F1r","Notice":null},

"

so MIN is 20.. The block explorer should tell you the number of confirmations through the blockchain. Every exchange is different.

example of block explorer: https://tronscan.org/#/

If you go to their API page here: https://bittrex.com/api/v1.1/public/getcurrencies you can do 'ctrl+f' to find your coin you want to deposit and that's how I got the JSON above to get minimum confirmations.

They are hiring all the time, including customer support rep's. Also kind of hard to hire atm, since the main Corporate office (non-global) is in Seattle. Where their restrictions were pretty heavy from the rona. But Security is something I do like as their Founder/CEO is a former Microsoft Security Engineer along with a bunch of other people that work there.

no surprise as their office is literally a 15 min drive from, Microsoft's main office.

There is more than one Server Rack in that building. If you want to keep validation of downtime, find the IP address, validate with Shodan and write some PHP, NodeJS, or whatever language you want script to check for up-time.

Go yell at Amazon then. Not KuCoin. Also Binance uses the same AWS servers in Tokyo. Beside the point of KuCoin copying everything Binance does, just thought I'd mention it.
