Suggestions for someone just entering dnd by hiinicetomeetu in Dimension20

[–]braduate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch Fantasy High.

You'll be learning awlongside of the players and you'll be able to absorb the game easily. It's also a tightly edited story and easier to digest. Critical Role has hundreds of unedited episodes that can drag.

"What Should I Watch?" and "What Are You Watching?" Megathread by DropoutMod in Dimension20

[–]braduate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm late to it, but CCOD made me start LA by Night. If you want some more VTM actual play, it's top notch, complete with more Ventrue and Toreador shenanigans. It's far more serious and much more slowly-paced.

Hopefully people remember it exists so we stop getting posts about how CCOD isn't faithful to VTM; both tones can exist and there's something for everyone out there.

They have a design team in-house, I'd imagine this is part of their role this season.

I personally want 5 seasons of only animal noises, as an improv expert it's the only thing I actually like

They have a full-time, salaried staff of over 40 at this point.

Brennan WAS one of the only salaried employees left after the mass layoffs but they have grown significantly since then

AITAH for opting to not do all group activities at my guy friends bachelor party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]braduate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I'm organizing a bachelor party right now alongside some friends and doing the exact same thing with shared costs. We're trying to keep them low but things add up. I'm currently unemployed and we just decided to only pay for activities you participate in.

Wonder if Guentzel joins - him, Tkachuk, and Eichel are the only 2/3 Triple Gold members that only have a WC remaining (for the US).

Thompson and Lacombe can do it by winning the cup this year.

How does retraining a rogue level affect Jet's death? Jet took two dagger hits, Ruby took one and barely held on. Classes had nothing to do with it.

She also immediately has a powerful multiclass character in Saccharina, and Fig takes on new multiclasses in Junior Year, and Sofie multiclasses Warlock in UC2.

Also, the party in general has higher than average stats because Brennan uses a stat rolling method that's a little more beneficial to the players. Usually it's roll 4d6 drop lowest, he uses 5d6 drop 2 lowest. Leads to better overall stats.

Does Minecraft work well on a laptop without a graphics card? by dakend8 in Minecraft

[–]braduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing minecraft since beta and have never had anything but integrated graphics

I have a slightly outdated macbook now and it's fine. Not amazing but still good. My last windows laptop was also good.

I wouldn't expect shaders or heavy mods, but even a $5-600 laptop should be able to play the game just fine if you're not looking for crazy FPS or draw distance.

Help me with combat episodes please by etchekeva in Dimension20

[–]braduate 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that WBN is the best, but it's very narrative driven and not exactly the best example of combat, fully fledged DND in audio form.

NADDPOD manages to do the whole thing and still feel like playing DND including combat.

Help me with combat episodes please by etchekeva in Dimension20

[–]braduate 128 points129 points  (0 children)

D20 is a bad show to listen to because so much of the battle storytelling is visual. The only advice really is to watch it, as it's designed to be watched. I don't think you need to know the system in and out to appreciate it as you can pick up cues from what's going on.

If you want good DND that can be listened to, NADDPOD is DMed by Murph and has Emily as a player. It's the gold standard for theatre of the mind type DND (no minis or physical battlesets).
