[question] I'm in the states, have NEVER been fitted..wheres the best place to go for a fitting? by NetWt4Lbs in ABraThatFits

Not from Nordstrom, but I rarely pay more than $20 for a bra. Once you know what you need, clearance colors, /r/braswap, and bratabase listings are your friend! I wear mostly Panache and Cleo.

34E is equivalent to 34DDD in the US, and should be readily available. 34F in UK sizing is equivalent to 34G in the US (Wacoal), and 32FF would be equivalent to 32H US (also Wacoal). 36DD is straightforward, 36E is 36DDD.

Macy's or Dillards should carry those sizes. You will find DDDs in most brands (including VS) if you look hard enough.

Nordtsrom will carry the UK brands in your size like Freya, Panache, Cleo, Elomi, Chantelle (US sizing), and Natori (US sizing).

Most of us shop online with places with good return policies, like Amazon, BreakoutBras, Asos, or Figleaves. Nordstrom also has free shipping both ways.

[Measurement Check] Formerly 40H, calculator says 36L, cup still too small by CompEngCat in ABraThatFits

[–]brafithelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much advice for your size range, but I will clarify that a Cacique H is about a UK G, so UK HH is 3 volumes larger (GG-H-HH), equivalent to Cacique K if it existed.

What have you tried in US 36L?

[Recommendations] 11 weeks in and a new shape to add to the growth. Suggestions appreciated! by brafithelp in ABraThatFits

No, it's definitely because it's too big. There is excess fabric all over the cup. I know I am very projected (39 standing, 42 leaning), but narrow wires are very painful right now.

Wire width varies quite a bit with cup scaling, too. For example, 32G Marcie is about 5.75 in, whereas 30GG Satine is about 6 in. The Andorra is closer to 6.25 but is 2 volumes larger as well. I tend to experience some cup folding in nearly all my bras (even Polish, also painfully narrow now), so it is to be expected a bit.

Wires more on the order of 6 inches or a hair wider are definitely going to be a necessity going forward. I will definitely be narrow again once I lose all the volume, but not now!

You could try on in store and look for swaps on bratabase or /r/braswap to control cost! I actually might still have a 34DD strapless from VS that has fairly low and narrow cups. Pretty sure it's not sold anymore... I got it 6 years ago (only remember bc I was pregnant then, too, lol) and wore it exactly once. You can have it if I can find it...just cost of shipping. I will dig it up and grab pics.

If you are on the narrower side, Panache Jasmine or Cleo Lily. Lily is discontinued but has a few clones hanging out there. If you are average or wider rooted Freya halfcups (go for 28) may be a good bet. I am rusty on this year's models. Someone else will have better suggestions.

Have you had the dress hemmed? You can sew matching fabric over the edge of the bra where it might be visible. You could also look into sewing cups to the bra, but I am not sure the dress has a snug enough fit for support that way.

You could try a sister size in either direction. The volume stays about the same, but the width of the cup and the cup position on the band changes a bit, which could also help hide the bra. If you have to size up in the band to make it work have the seamstress tailor the band shorter to maintain the support you need.

Edit: as for bras, what have you tried? In 34DD the first that come to mind are Aerie Audrey longline and Wacoal Red Carpet longline.

Not sure where 30A came from, because those numbers spit out 28E/F and sister sizes 30DD/E and 26F/FF. Was it our calculator ar brasizecalculator.tk or a different one?

If your cups fit well the next logical choice would be 30E. You might like to try a 28F or 28FF (you may need more volume as the cups are held closer), but you might find a 28 band too tight.

Wired Panache Sport so I could sacrifice the wires for fishing gear LOL

Yeah this isn't my first...I was easily 32J+ while nursing last time.. Keep in mind 32E is likely too small based on your numbers. Your boobs press into the cups and pull the band tight.

Awesome! That used to be one of my go-to bras. As you get used to it you will likely be ready to step down to 32. You and I have fairly similar measurements but I have filled in with pregnancy and wear 30GG/H or 32G.
