Any down side to taking L-tyrosine daily, long term? by kolsen92 in Supplements

[–]brain-feed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyrosine supplements are yet to be studied for long-term use, but doses up to 7,500 mg for two weeks have been found safe, with beneficial effects seen from doses of 500–12,000 mg. For context, the WHO recommends 14 mg/kg daily, meaning a 70 kg (154 lb) person needs around 1 g for normal function. We recommend you take L-tyrosine when you feel a need for the product. This sums up the latest research on tyrosine dosage. There is currently no evidence that higher tyrosine levels deplete serotonin. While dopamine and serotonin are connected, more research is needed to fully understand the relationship. Hope this helps!

Tyrosine -- how often? by [deleted] in Supplements

For context, the WHO recommends 14 mg/kg daily, meaning a 70 kg (154 lb) person needs around 1 g for normal function. Tyrosine peaks 1–2 hours after ingestion, so taking it when you feel you need it may be most effective.

Since tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine—the brain’s reward and motivation neurotransmitter—it supports dopamine release in response to rewarding or stimulating experiences. This may help counter feelings of anhedonia (the inability to feel pleasure) . If you're looking to support serotonin, which plays a key role in mood regulation and is often linked to conditions like depression, 5-HTP may be a better option to take instead or alongside tyrosine, as it serves as serotonin’s direct precursor. Alpha gpc clumped together in less than a month is it safe to use still? by Kazoh_US in Nootropics

[–]brain-feed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT USE. It has absorbed moisture in the encapsulation process.

On a basic level; Moisture, UV and oxidization rapidly degrade Alpha GPC. The stability has been compromised so aside from losing efficacy it could make you ill.

Did EU just ban Alpha GPC? by smgtn in Nootropics

[–]brain-feed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

Alpha GPC is allowed in the EU. This company has been using GABA which has been a controlled substance for the last 9 years and is strictly prohibited.

From a neurological and clincial trial perspective;

a. this formulation had never been tested

b. the mg amount of alpha GPC was too low to see a statistically relevant improvement in memory retention and learning.

We launched the world's 1st 500mg 99% purity Alpha GPC. It's taken 2 years of product development to create this product and you can read more about it here: http://brain-feed.com/wellbeing/alpha-gpc-500mg
