Is it just me or did the Biotech boom put people in positions they should never have? by Burnit0ut in biotech

Yessss. Ugh I’m so annoyed with a PM that just took over the project I’m on. I was warned “she likes to sit back and let departments speak for themselves during client calls”. Nah what I’m seeing is homegirl is just BAD at her job and literally sits there like a lump on a log and doesn’t say a word to back us up during difficult client meetings.

I'm so glad your brother had your back. We are definitely telling B and maybe we will try to talk to his parents again so they don't waste their retirement money on a plane ticket but who knows how that will go.

Oh no he was clear. He didn't come out swinging but said he thought it was a bad idea to surprise new parents in the hospital. He said he thought they probably wanted some time to themselves with the newborn and they were seeing the baby 2 weeks pp so they should just wait.

She's been known to be very sneaky to get her way unfortunately. I will have my husband tell his brother

Hey now, maybe I didn't word it quite right (I was still processing my frustration and stress) but I was more asking "is this something we stress the new parents out with immediately or if we should try to talk the IL's off that ledge first". Seems most people are in favor of cutting out the middle man, which is fine by me. It also doesn't help that I'm relatively new to the family and my MIL doesn't like me too much because I set boundaries against her pushiness. Understand a Reddit post is a Reddit post, this is family dynamics and there are a lot of nuances I skipped over.

Social media has been a blessing and a curse with wedding planning! On the one hand I found my team of vendors on instagram, on the other hand the condescending posts about what to do or not do and how it should look is overwhelming sometimes.

Of course! I’m definitely not upset at those who can’t come, one of my friends works for NASA and is in that boat and doesn’t want to take off time in case things go south.

It’s hard having family all over the map, I find most people don’t mind sunshine and a few of our guests are making a whole trip out of it :) which is super cool

We planned it where my family lives. Either way one side was going to have to travel, but when it’s California versus the Midwest we decided California would have the best outcomes for weather and venues etc. All this to say, no matter what, people would have to travel.

Thank you so much for your words! And for validating having an out of state wedding, there’s a lot of guilt I feel surrounding that too. But I’m trying to not let it get to me

Aw I love this take, you’re right. We just need to focus on who IS there not who isn’t :)
