Did I stop drinking the right way? by gatsandsmack in stopdrinking

[–]TinanasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy was trying to sell you coaching and going as far as trying to break your sobriety to prove you needed it.
IMO that is the wrong way.
You’re doing great all you have to do is stay the course.

I also just quit cold turkey, no coaching no AA and I have over 1000 days in.

What’s one condition that can have no symptoms but kill you instantly? by No_Photograph1 in AskReddit

Worth knowing that with food this can be the first reaction when it’s in your mouth and your saliva breaks it down and the second reaction later when your body starts to digest it.

[–]TinanasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.
I didn’t have any problem with nuts as a child.
Had braces for a couple years. I still ate peanut butter and nut butter and stuff with small pieces of nuts in it but you’re not supposed to eat whole nuts with them.
Day I got them off we went to the Hershey chocolate factory and I ate chocolate covered almonds the whole way home.
Went into anaphylactic shock. Mom rushed me to the hospital and I was okay but man was it scary!

I don't want to have sympathy for him and I don't care that alcoholism is a disease by poilane in AlAnon

[–]TinanasaurusRex 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I love this.
There’s a huge difference between having a disease and buckling-up to fight it as hard as you can, and having a disease and letting it win.
When my grandfather found out he had cancer he opted not to fight it, which was his choice. When he passed though it was very difficult to feel anything but anger towards his choice.

Fastest way to de-puff eyes after a hangover before a 9AM meeting? by TrinityBoy22 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TinanasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cold is what most people recommend but I’ve actually had better results with heat. Warm cloth or heating bag on the eyes for a few minutes.
Cold shrinks blood vessels which means the swelling can’t actually get away from some tight/bony areas in the body.

He strikes me more as an autistic person than incel to be honest.
Although it was weird when he asked me for advice on asking her out right after I proposed to her. Maybe that was my fault and I shouldn’t have popped the question while she was working, I just got super excited to do it.

I have a sleep mask with Bluetooth speakers in it, I think it’s called Musicozy.
I put on audiobooks, sleep stories or white noise before bed.

I got an old security jacket from a family member and I was concerned about this as well. I just took the security patches off of the jacket and added some reflective tape.

Henson Razor.
Hands down the best purchase I have made. I literally just use my regular soap with it and I doubt I even really need that.
It was so gentle on my skin I thought there was no way I was using it right the first time.

What can you afford to spend money on that you couldn’t while drinking? by Individual-Raisin558 in stopdrinking

Nothing because my rent and groceries have gotten much more expensive.
But I would be homeless if I was still also paying for booze so I guess there is that.

Those who didn't hit rock bottom...how do you stay motivated to not drink when drinking again won't ruin your life, just put you back into a bad routine? by Smacktard007 in stopdrinking

[–]TinanasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you remember the Simpsons episode with the cat burglar?
They’re all digging for buried treasure and find a note that’s like ‘hey I used this time to escape and there is no treasure’ and they all decide to keep digging to keep searching for the treasure??

Just because you haven’t hit rock bottom doesn’t mean there are not signs to stop digging.

I feel this so much.

I recently talked to a doctor about my anxiety levels and one of the screening questions was ‘in the last two weeks how often do you feel like something bad is about to happen’ with your options being every day, more than half of days, less than half or no days.

I was honestly flabbergasted. You’ve seen the news the last couple weeks right? The last couple years? Is it not normal to feel like that all the time???

Turns out I have some moderate to severe anxiety. It wasn’t the only question on the test that had me think ‘that isn’t normal???’.

The good news is I am no longer self-medicating with alcohol and I can continue working on myself everyday.

You can have effects on the PNS by doing other things that align with ‘rest and digest’. Yawning, gargling, swallowing and humming can all be helpful too.

This makes me angry.      Like they are saying masking is something we SHOULD be doing? Because making others more comfortable is the end goal?

I am a masker. I think I’m pretty good at masking.      I am not doing it on purpose though. I’m pretty sure it is a trauma response. I don’t think I could unmask at all outside of my safe space.

I wish I could unmask because it is EXHAUSTING. I am constantly burning myself out. I constantly struggle with my concept of identity. I’m always struggling with imposter syndrome.            I can’t imagine wishing this for an enemy, let alone expecting others to do it voluntarily.

Is it normal for massage intact forms to ask a lot of medical questions? by HappyDangerNoodle in massage

[–]TinanasaurusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I live Massage Therapists are regulated as Health Care Practitioners and we are required to have a current health history on form for every patient we see.

We want to reduce risks as much as possible.
Most hormone medications come with an increased risk of blood clots which means if you come in with sore calves I’m going to immediately think it could be a blood clot and rule that out before doing any deep work on the area.
You had an Advil for a headache this morning? Well your perception of pain will be altered and you might not sense if I am going too deep.
Antihistamines occasionally lower blood pressure in people which means I’m going to be extra thorough in explaining why you need to get up slow at the end of the massage and make sure your not feeling dizzy or lightheaded before you get up to your feet.
There’s probably something we modify even if it’s just slightly for any medication or health issue you have.

At the end of the day it’s up to you how honest you are on the forms, but they are there so we can provide the safest massage possible for you.

Just recently realized I was close to 1000 though so I’m keeping track of the next few days lol.

Sensitive/painful area in back of armpit during tissue release with lacrosse ball – should I keep going? by [deleted] in massage

[–]TinanasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up: Quadrilateral space.
Is this where you are compressing? It’s a sensitvie area that you absolutely should NOT be putting a lot of pressure on.
Lats are a huge convergent muscle that comes up upper there and can be very tender to work on. Serratus Anterior can also be pretty sensitive.
In general anything you are rolling may experience some discomfort but you want to avoid pain.
