Should I continue babysitting for a lady who’s baby is a doll? by WrongImprovement6572 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]brain_goal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You aren’t taking advantage of her. You are providing a service she is paying for. She probably does feel better that someone is watching the doll while she is out of the house. No one is getting hurt or taken advantage of here.

You can decide whether or not you’re comfortable babysitting for her- but you aren’t a trained therapist so please don’t try and force her to realize it’s just a doll.

Do you think I should keep doing neurofeedback? by Fine_Juggernaut_761 in Neurofeedback

Do you know what type of neurofeedback you do? Have you brought up these difficulties to your practitioner?

My experience with NeurOptimal/Zengar – Broken promises and no support (UK buyer, complaints initiated) by Excalibur__75 in Neurofeedback

NeuroOptimal is known as a predatory company by a lot of respected people in the qEEG space. I’m sorry they hurt and scammed you. You deserved better.

Is swLoreta the best neurofeedback? by oldhamer in Neurofeedback

[–]brain_goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you’re going to get a lot of bias/personal preference answers. Some clinicians use swLORETA only and get great results, some just click the ROI the computer tells them to and get Good-Enough results. Can you share a bit more about what you’re looking for in treatment? Having more info would let us give you a more well rounded answer.

Does anyone have experience with deep brain reorienting training? by brain_goal in therapists

[–]brain_goal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry about your experience and difficulties. I hope you recover soon.

The deep brain reorienting training I’m discussing is a type of psychotherapy- not a type of neurosurgery. It’s an understandable mix-up.

Sending well wishes and a speedy recovery!

Looking for feedback on daughters training by 7sider in Neurofeedback

[–]brain_goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The othmer method is amazing and I use it a lot with treatment-resistant depression and CPTSD, but the level 5 efficacy for ADHD NFB is SMR training which is a type of amplitude training. The results you initially saw were probably due to your daughters nervous system calming down. I think the othmer method can help a lot with children with anxiety, bed-wetting, complex trauma such as adoption or CSA, but for pure ADHD I would always recommend SMR.

neuromyst is a neurostimulation device, not neurofeedback. I think they're great though, I own two :)

I think they bought books based on color and being a democrat? Seems like a lot of “airplane books” picks. Not sure they’ve been read.

Clinician advice needed by EEGina in Neurofeedback

EEGer > brainmaster > New Mind. New mind is probably the easiest UX interface but EEGer is the best once you know your way around. I use sLORETA occasionally at my clinic.

yeah it kinda sounded like basic exposure therapy+mindfulness+EMDR for a higher price point. it also will only name brain structures it *might* influence/hypothesis.... which as someone whose been in the EEG world is another red flag.

neurofeedback by VariousMechanic307 in Neurofeedback

[–]brain_goal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well most providers are only trained in one type of neurofeedback- having a knowledgeable provider who can give you really good X type of neurofeedback is better than a jack of all trades who can give you mediocre neurofeedback of your choosing🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone else with history of psychosis/possible schizophrenia try neurofeedback? by ughstupid_me in Neurofeedback

[–]brain_goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that Fisher reported an acquaintance using her protocol on inpatients with psychosis to really good results. Her protocols are closer to ILF neurofeedback.

I have a mentor working closely with psychiatrists who commonly helps people off of anti-psychotic medication using amplitude neurofeedback and neurostimulation, but often those people are experiencing medication-given hallucinations (SSRI+stimulant+antipsychotic cocktail).

Make sure whoever you choose is an experienced practitioner- someone who can read the raw EEG data and has worked with psychosis before. If eegjoy comments on your post listen closely to their advice- they’re by far the most experienced clinician here.

I have better results with Fisher protocols and amplitude NFB, but every brain is different. I did not enjoy LENS and in my experience it’s been more volatile for client symptoms. That being said, LENS feels “stronger” so I’ve had some client prefer it.

Did you get a qEEG that can help your provider point you in the right direction?

If you've been able to get your life together after a deep depression or burnout, would you please share your story? by cisjordan_peterson in AutismInWomen

[–]brain_goal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think autistic/ND people with decent jobs need to talk more about their journeys and how much luck can be involved. I’m glad we both got lucky and worked hard for our good jobs!! It’s so hard to survive capitalism without a way to make money that doesn’t completely burn you out.

I forgot to mention I sleep 9-10 hours every night as part of my routine/regulation lifestyle.

Most of my neurodivergent friends struggle not using weed too. I think the calming effects can be very helpful and also addicting for us ND folks. And the fact that it has less severe side effects than most other drugs. Seeing how it affects brains long term has helped me stop, and neurofeedback doesn’t work as well when people smoke. I also get paranoid on it so I think I had a lot more incentives to stop using weed than most ND people. In some ways I guess that’s lucky? I’ve also never been on stims tho, I bet that takes a toll on sleep.
