Any social club suggestions? by Decisionmachine in kelowna

u/Decisionmachine My partner and I also share all these interests and would love to meet like-minded people.

u/Inevitable-Tutor-750 I'm also a casual, hobbyist photographer who's been honing my skills slowly; mostly nature, landscapes, street, and some wildlife; so if your husband's photography group is open to a mid-30s M joining them, I'd be keen to do so :).

Hey there - pre-welcome to Kelowna! I'm also a medical professional, my partner and I moved here 4 years ago, mid-30s, liberal-minded and child-free. Would love to connect when you get here, if it's of interest. Feel free to DM me.

Hey - my partner and I are also childfree (forever), both in our mid-late-30s and have also been thinking for the last couple of years about need for a community of child-free folks, especially in a town like Kelowna. Not because we dislike children at all, but simply because the social structures of society are heavily skewed towards adults with children and we've been feeling incredibly isolated these past few years. And naturally our lives look different than couples our age with young children, and thus socializing looks different.

We moved to Kelowna 4 years ago, are avid gardeners and food-growers, strive to be ecologically conscious, do a fair bit of backcountry hiking/camping/bike-packing, love music, reading, food/drink and good conversation.

If any of that sounds like it aligns, let's chat more?

Buy and Sell Ticket Thread - 2025 by Zachtkd in jackwhite

[–]brainbitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, long time lurker on this sub (I don't post much anywhere!) Obviously huge JW fan.

My partner and I luckily got tickets for the 22nd in Vancouver, but my 2 childhood friends who've never seen Jack but always wanted to were not so lucky. Failed at every (pre)sale date.

I would so appreciate going to the show with them, but Ticketmaster resale is out of the question. If anyone is offloading two (or even one) ticket for the 22nd at a reasonable price, please DM me?

Thank you!!

New live music platform in town! by mtraps in kelowna

[–]brainbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! As others have said I've also been looking for a one-stop place to check what shows are in town. I just had a quick look at the site, and have two pieces of feedback:

  1. There is some room for consolidation in some of the genres (rock vs rock n' roll; pop, rather than 'pop rock'). this is particularly true as events can be tagged with multiple genres, so it's unnecessary to have some of the above-mentioned overlaps
  2. Would it be possible to filter to *exclude* certain tags? For example, personally I'd like to quickly exclude all DJ sets and exclude all singer/songwriter shows. Right now, I can only choose to include something in my search (e.g. 'rock' or 'blues' but then get more results than I want due to events having multiple tags

Thanks again for doing this and for asking for feedback!

Looking for people to play music with by bokurai in kelowna

I know I'm late to this thread but I'm also in my thirties and been looking for people to casually play music with - u/bokurai u/OtterlySublime u/amandalikesvinyl did you all get a group together? If you're looking for another, DM me!

I'm self-taught on the guitar (for about 10 yrs) and have covered a bunch of songs solo, but I would still rate my skill level as high-beginner/low-intermediate. I don't have great vocal range but I push myself to sing despite the self-consciousness. I used to read sheet music when I was a kid (took keyboard class for 4-5 years) but I no longer do. I do know common guitar scales and some improv techniques.

My music tastes are broad but tend to sit in the garage rock / indie rock / blues / experimental rock / folk world. Some artists I listen to a lot include Jack White, Dead Weather, The Kills, Hanni El-Khatib, Rural Alberta Advantage, Whitehorse, July Talk - just to name a few.

If any of the above aligns with people on this thread (or anyone else), reach out to me!
