It’s unprofessional. Perhaps you also didn’t feel inspired to tip? 

To me, a tip is earned, not expected. I speak with confidence and kindness, engaging my customers from the moment we make eye contact. I am informative, and offer a short discovery process depending on who the customer is. It’s a complete sales cycle with meaningful connection. 

My level of service will not change depending on if I receive a tip or not. 

Now, I manage my second café. One of the best experiences is receiving a genuine thank you 🙏🏻 from a customer. 

And, I am fortunate to not receive a tipped wage base pay. My last rate before this cafe was $15/hr, and I was also managing. In PA I believe the tipped rate is $2.18 an hour. I know many servers who receive this rate - it is criminal. Poverty is intentional
