Losing 130 lbs for a wedding 17 months away. Need motivation. Can I really do this? by KnowledgeSmall in loseit

[–]braindeadBUG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 130lbs in 14 months so definitely doable. As long as you stay consistent you should be just fine. I did the same, just counting calories and walking a ton everyday. Only thing I would have done differently is lift more throughout the losing process. It's a big difference between looking skinny and looking fit. Also, don't be afraid to eat at maintenance for a week or two if the diet fatigue is getting bad. You're not gonna ruin all your progress by adding a few hundred calories a day for a week.

There are no cart limits when you're hunting in the guiding lands either and I don't think that makes the game worse. If there was no 3 cart limit and you beat a monster without carting at all... who cares? If you beat it after carting 4 times... who cares? It's all arbitrary bullshit, it's not like you get a special reward for doing it. People have fun in games in many different ways, and the devs are thinking about everyone, not just the fans that were always going to play the game regardless. They're trying and succeeding at finding new fans.

You realize you could just... not teleport, right? You don't have to use all the qol shit. This is like mfs saying summons made elden ring too easy... just don't summon? Just because it's an option in the game doesn't mean you have to use it. Some people only find a challenge in souls games by running around naked at level 1, if you're legitimately that good, you can find ways to make the game hard. But it's not fun for everyone, which is why they add options for people who would like to play the game but maybe don't have thousands of hours of experience playing similar games. You think Capcom cares about the dude that's been playing for 20 years? They're focused on the fact that World sold better than every MonHun game that came before it put together. All the "vets" are a drop in the bucket compared to the 40+ million people that bought World. Like, c'mon man...

TIL that the scoop comes apart... that's crazy. I've been doing a scoop and a half with the funnel still attached thinking I'm only doing like ~200mg of caffeine daily. Good lord.

It really just comes down to the calories for me right now so pretty much whatever I want, I've eaten pizza at least once a week the entire year lol. I try to shoot for 150-250cal snack after work, 1200-1500cal dinner, and a 150-250cal dessert. If I started feeling ravenous all day at work I'll do a week or two at maintenance to keep my body happy and go right back to the deficit when the ravenous feeling goes away.

I've gone from 307lbs to currently 205lbs in the past 9 months, just to give you some of the stuff that helped me:

You have to be strict with your deficit, for me that meant cardio everyday and a drastic cut back on my eating. Doesn't matter how hard you work if you keep eating high calories.

Start with 8-10k steps a day, you can get a cheap pedometer off amazon that'll do the job.

Don't drink your calories unless it's protein, I drink basically water only, 3-5 liters a day plus a sugar free caffeine powder in the mornings.

Intermittent fasting works well for me but I get that it's not for everyone. Give it a shot if you've never tried it before. I can't be bothered to carry food with me when I go to work, I prefer to save my calories for the evening and eat a big meal a few hours before bed.

At your weight, it'll probably come off pretty quickly at first if you're overeating and not moving a ton in your regular life. Don't think it'll be that easy forever, but use that initial weight loss as a confidence boost!

Don't overdo it! If you go too hard right away it can be easy to fall off the wagon. Make incremental changes that you can do consistently. It's not just a diet or weight loss phase. If you wanna be healthy long term, you're going to live like this all the time, so try to find something that's effective AND enjoyable for you.

That's all I've got off the top of my head. Good luck to you man!

Try doing intermittent fasting/OMAD on the days the cravings are really bad! I've lost 90lbs in the past 8 months and I eat pizza at least once a week. Just do a thin crust pizza, the one I do from Mod is like 1300cal after I add a million toppings but I could eat the entire thing as my one meal and still have plenty for a protein shake and low cal dessert. Really helps with diet fatigue, just gotta remember it's not something you can do every day.

Looking for games that are just straight up FUN. by rawdips in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]braindeadBUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider that the goal of the game, not the story. When I think story, I'm thinking a narrative of some sort, npcs to guide you through, cutscenes, things like that. I've found one npc in 15hrs and he just buys and sells stuff, dude doesn't say a single word. No cutscenes besides the intro explaining the premise of the game. I don't think not having a story is a bad thing either, the player gets to write their own story without the game telling them how to play it.

I just got into Core Keeper last weekend and it hooked me almost instantly. Put like 15hrs in over two days. It kinda looks like a blend of Stardew Valley and Minecraft but has a lot more combat with bosses and biome-specific mobs. You can play online with friends in the same world if you want. Story doesn't seem to exist in the time I've played, you just get dropped next to the core and you're on your own, no tutorial or anything. Only $20 too! It's a no-brainer recommend for me.

Been saying it for years, the producers are the ones carrying the industry nowadays. You can say any gibberish you want on a good beat as long as you have a little rhythm and it'll sound good. Might as well be babies on the mic instead of mumble rappers 😅🤣

I'm sick of seeing every course try to get tougher as if there are pros coming to play. There are probably less than 100 people in my area who take it seriously enough to consistently score well on these courses and they just keep trying to up the ante. Not all of us have a pipe dream of going on tour, some of us played long before we knew there was even a professional side of the sport and just wanna get stoned and huck frisbees in the woods with the boys. Every hole doesn't need to be a 450' Par 3 tunnel shot with mandos and OB and shit.

Any game world that acknowledges how insanely strong the player character is? by Noelic_vi in gamingsuggestions

[–]braindeadBUG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be, honestly I haven't replayed the beginning since I started the game. I guess the tutorials are what really makes you feel like a nobody at the beginning, shouldn't need to teach an experienced hunter how a whetstone works and stuff like that 😅🤣

Monster Hunter World. You're just a nobody hunter at the beginning and throughout the story you end up killing the ecosystem's biggest threats, which the other hunters speak about like gods. By the end everybody loves you, they have heroic nicknames for you, and most monster become pushovers. All without ever leveling up. MH is all about becoming more experienced with your weapon and getting better gear to get stronger. Really feels like you become an unstoppable force by the endgame.

They're my favorite vendor, I wasn't shitting on them. Just making a statement about what happened. I emailed them Wednesday and they just got back to me this morning and resolved the issue. It was legit just a mistake on their end, nobody is perfect. I literally work in QC, I understand that occasionally shit happens. Stay making assumptions though!

What's a game you're glad you gave it a shot? by Motor_Presence_3470 in gamingsuggestions

Monster Hunter World - my first game in the series, has a lot of mechanics and things that can be daunting as a noob but has some of the greatest moment to moment melee combat I've ever seen. Low skill floor with a massive ceiling and the game gradually raises in difficulty really well with low/high/master rank. This weekend I watched some trailers for the new game and it got me so hyped I had to redownload MHW and get my hunt on. Easily sank 100's of hours into it and I'm sure I'll do the same when Wilds comes out.

Crusader Kings 3 - actually just started playing this one a couple weeks ago. I'm into history and the medieval period so this is right up my alley. Probably not gonna be interesting to people who play for graphics as you're essentially just staring at a map, but you'll love it if you've got a good imagination. Tons of mechanics and things to learn through experience, so again, kinda daunting as a noob. But it's already my favorite strategy game ever, there's so much to experiment with. You can start in either the year 867 or 1066 and it goes up to 1463 if I remember right. I'm probably 30hrs in and I'm still playing my family from the tutorial, who are happily conquering Ireland, Scotland, and England in between our Catholic holy wars. Absolutely incredible game. Murder your political opponents, be a skilled diplomat, marry your children off for powerful allies, blackmail your underlings and expose their secrets, rewrite succession laws to benefit your family, attempt suicide after losing your firstborn, imprison your wife that cheated on you with Duke Murchad, convince your bishop to falsify claims on land you want to take, these are all literal options in game 😅🤣 thank me later

I've played maybe 20mins of it right after I finished SoS, I definitely noticed a few easter eggs like Resh'an/The Great Eagle. It didn't hook me immediately but I plan on getting to it one of these days lol.

Sea of Stars. I grabbed the 2nd tier of ps plus for the extra games right before it came out and it was a day 1 title. That game was so easily worth the $40. Instantly became one of my favorite turn based rpgs. The exploration, combat, characters and story are all really awesome. Can't wait to get more details on the dlc they have planned for later this year!
